Greg replied on April 28, 2009 16:41 to the problem "Bandwidth of a2btv is getting worse" in a2bTV:
Rob,
We have customers that currently stream regularly over 3000Kbps in Australia. I'd like to go over your settings with you and make sure you're using the best server for the Pacific region and check the rest of your settings.
There is also the possibility that your ISP is shaping your Slingbox stream speeds. (This occasionally occurs to our customers - I'd guess about 2-3% of them each year.) A phone call to complain to your ISP will usually get them to remove you from any shaping. I'd like to talk to you in more detail to determine if that's a possibility.
Let me know when you're available for a call.
Best,
Greg

Hi Rob,
Sorry you're having problems getting good speeds. Since we've upgraded our proxy bandwidth, we've only gotten reports of our speeds getting better. If you're getting speeds at 100 Kbps, there must be additional factors that are causing you problems. (You should be able to receive better stream than that using the public Internet.)
Can we set a phone call with our tech support department to go over your settings?
In the future, the fastest way to get a response for tech support issues, is to e-mail support@a2bTV.com.

Greg replied on April 18, 2009 00:24 to the problem "Please return my equipment to DirecTV" in a2bTV:
Hi Bradley,
Sorry you were charged by DirecTV for your receiving equipment.
We have returned your receiver upon cancellation of your account, but sometimes they do not properly credit it to the customer's account upon return, or it may just take longer than expected. We can fix this easily though by providing them the Fed Ex tracking number we used to ship your receiver. We will e-mail you shortly once that's been cleared up and they will credit you immediately for any inaccurate charges.

Greg
Greg replied on April 13, 2009 22:44 to the question "What's the best Video Bit Rate to use?" in a2bTV:
Hi Mike,
When you're manually setting the Video Bit Rate for proxy usage, that rate depends on what download speed you can reliably receive from your Internet service provider. All of our accounts come with a standard 2000Kbps upload guarantee from our data center facility. Our proxy network moves it around the world at very fast speeds. But your download speeds will ultimately be decided by the network conditions more local to you.
For example, if you have 2 Mbps download speeds or faster then you should be able to set your video bit rate to 2000kbps and receive that speed.
However, if your ISP tends to get congested during peak hours, you may need to lower the Video Bit Rate during those periods to adjust accordingly.
If your download speeds are 1.5 Mbps, you'll need to try setting the Video Bit Rate to 1,400 Kbps or so and adjust it until you get a good stream.
When your Video Bit Rate is set too high for your download speeds, you'll be able to tell by stuttering audio and video. That's a sign you need to lower your Video Bit Rate.
Please let us know if that answers your question!

Greg

Hi Mats,
Sorry it was so hard to get a hold of us last week. It was a lot of work but well worth it. Have you noticed an improvement in the bandwidth since we completed the transition? You will probably be noticing great speeds this week in Sweden - please let us know!
Best,

Greg replied on April 13, 2009 07:42 to the problem "No A/V signal from source SlingPlayer and charged twice for this month's service." in a2bTV:
Hi Laren,
We checked your receiver and noticed you'd experienced a common problem that is easy to fix.
The most common reason you might find a "No A/V Signal" message on your screen, is that your receiver has not gone into energy saving mode . If you have not watched programming for a few days, your receiver will go to sleep to save energy. All you need to do to turn it back on, is use the POWER button on the top center of the remote control. That will wake your receiver up and you'll immediately see programming.
Best,
Greg

Hi Laren, once again, we apologize for the 48 hour turn around on your tech support ticket. We pride ourselves in turning support issues around in just hours, but last week was an extraordinary amount of work as we moved all of our customers over to a new bandwidth provider. You are now probably experiencing better speeds when you connect - please let us know your viewing experiences, we'd love to hear them. – Greg, on April 13, 2009 07:34
