In addition to the FAQ, it might be helpful to have a progress tracker on the dashboard, something akin to LinkedIn. That way people are aware of the steps they have left to take to complete their profile. 10% just signing in. 10% uploading a photo. 10% adding 5 friends/neighbors. 10% listing 3 items. 10% adding to the wishlist. 10% getting verified. 10% borrowing something from a neighbor. What I'm seeing right now is a lot of people I invited have just a name and maybe 1 item listed. And in talking to a couple people in the default world, they just aren't aware that they need a photo or that they should invite someone new. It may seem obvious to those who are used to Facebook and other social networking sites, but as this will appeal to folks who have no use for Facebook, a little more hand-holding may grow the network faster.
