I figured out where the foxmarks.log file is, now what should I be looking for?

Eric/Steve - Thanks to both of you for your detailed post.

Eric - I did shut down prior to installing Foxmarks and had no problems.
I then installed PicLens (my second favorite addon) and shutdown / relaunched also with no problems. After that I installed the Webmail notifier addon - same thing - no problems.
Then I rebooted (just to be sure) launched Firefox, installed Foxmarks, shutdown and on the first relaunch it worked fine. Then I re-synced my bookmarks and shutdown. From there the problem started again. (Possible clue - maybe my bookmarks on the server are corrupting something?)
To answer your other question, I've waited as long as an hour after shutting down before attempting to relaunch Firefox and the process is still running and not allowing me to surf.
Also, as a note - I'm not bogging my system down with a bunch of addons as I did once in the past. I only have Foxmarks, Piclens, and Webmail notifier installed.

Is there anything I can check for in the Foxmarks.log and if so, how do I go about doing that?

I'll check out the Mozilla support links above.
    Thanks again for the assistance.

Steve - I'm sorry to hear you are also having the same issue but at least now I know I'm not crazy. I have several friends that use the Firefox/Foxmarks combo and none of them have any issues.
My system is running XP Pro SP3.

Eric, Thanks for the suggestion. For a moment there I thought you were my new hero. I created a new profile and relaunched Firefox. No issues after surfing for a while. Then I installed the Foxmarks addon and restarted as the addon installation requested. Previously it would cause the problem and not relaunch. This first time it restarted with no problems. After surfing for a while and re-syncing my bookmarks I decided to exit the program and see if it would restart. Unfortunately it did not. As you can see from the screen grab, Firefox is not running but the process is still there and it will not relaunch until I close that process.

    Thanks again for your help.

Eric, thanks for the swift reply. That was initionally my thoughts. I disabled the Sync on Shutdown feature and that still did not correct the issue. I am positive that the issue is with Foxmarks because if I uninstall the addon my Firefox closes and restarts fine.
I can't live without Foxmarks so for now I'm just living with doing the Ctrl/Alt/Dlt thing.
Hopefully the next version of Firefox or Foxmarks will magically fix this problem. I haven't heard of this problem with others so I know it's just a personal hardware/software issue. – Greg, on August 13, 2008 20:30

    Firefox/Foxmarks problem
Problem running Firefox 3.0.1 and Foxmarks 2.1.0.12. when I close Firefox, it doesn't completely shutdown. It will not reopen until I Ctrl/Alt/Dlt and close the the firefox process. It only does this after I install Foxmarks.
