Greg, this indeed is a great idea and it's on our roadmap. We're finishing needed SDK's to make the integration easier for the developers. We are also looking at adding the support to one or two ourselves, but frankly we don't have the resources yet to do it.
Where we would need help is figuring out into which posting programs you would like to see integration the most, and also helping to engage the developers.
Sending a nice mail to the author, together with a CC to jure@zemanta.com would be the best way to tell the author that you're interested and then we can start working with them on technical issues. If enough of you do this, it should make the process even faster.
And thank for stepping up with a request for a new way to use Zemanta :-)

How about integrating with third party blogging apps like ecto, Mars Edit, etc?Collaborate with ecto, Mars Edit, or another blog posting program to include Zemanta would be AWESOME. I would pay for that, as the third party apps are much better interfaces, generally, than the web interface o either Wordpress or Blogger.

Greg May asked a question in Zemanta on April 06, 2008 00:20:
Does Zemanta update on every SAVE?In Wordpress 2.5, every time "Save" is clicked on the post drafting page, Zemanta resets to say it will update in 300 characters, no matter how close it was to updating before hitting SAVE. For example, even if Zemanta says it will update in 4 characters immediately before I hit SAVE, after the SAVE it says it will update in 300 characters.
My images appear to be the same immediately before and after the SAVE.. Does Zemanta update as part of the SAVE, or does the behavior I describe mean that Zemanta may bot update for more than 300 characters if SAVE is pressed?
Since I conscientiously SAVE my posts several times while drafting to avoid losing the entire post if I suffer some sort of crash, it would be nice to know that Zemanta is updating upon hitting SAVE. is it? It doesn't appear to. If not, it would be a great improvement. It's too risky to avoid hitting SAVE during mid-draft of a lonng post just to take full advantage of Zemanta.
