Hi Barry,
I've seen this happen primarily in the case of FriendFeed when you enter your FriendFeed password instead of your Remote Key. Please double check that and if it's still a problem, let me know and I'll look into it right away.
In the case of Twitter, please double check to make sure you entered your correct Twitter username (not email address) and password. If it is correct, at times I have seen problems with Twitter's API - it's not always stable.
These are the two major things I can think of. Please let me know if this does or does not solve your problem and I'll keep working on it.
