use case: I have nodes in my tree that changes what is displayed on the right side (think clicking folders in Windows File Explorer). Having a link on each node would allow me to implement that feature. Your workaround would be very tedious if I have many items in my tree and I keep changing them while iterating on the prototype.

Connectors: Lines and Arrows (Powerpoint like)Connector type lines and arrows would be nice (like the lines and arrows in Powerpoint). That would allow people to mock up flow charts or at least show relationships between objects (like uploaded images).
