I've written a new Linux uploader, available here:
http://www.metapaw.co.uk/projects/met...
It's not as full featured as the existing one, but the code is much better factored, so it will be easier to add enhancements.

I've got Ubuntu 8.04 at home and Win XP Pro at work. Funny thing is that the Linux version seems to be more stable than the official one. Too bad it's not as eye-catching and a little confusing to install (I wish I knew how to program so I could help developing instead of just being a nag, lol). Hurray for the Linux community! Hooray for the creators of RescureTime! Keep up the good work

I'm still a newbie at packaging, but my initial attempts are here: https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~stat...
Anyone is welcome to jump in and help get this to the point that we can put a package in a PPA for testing. Once we get to that stage, then we can put the package through MOTU revu and try and get it into the Ubuntu Universe repo.

Angus, I want to chime in here and say we really appreciate all of the work you've done with creating and maintaining the Linux uploader. It is very encouraging to us to see individuals being passionate enough about this type of thing to go out of their way to get it done.
Elliot, I know you spoke with Tony yesterday - but feel free to ping me with any technical questions. I will try to keep you informed of any major feature or changes that may impact your efforts, and look forward to working with you.
Thanks guys!

I know I could probably install Ubuntu on here, I just feel no need to. I'll probably get the new OS itch in six months and install GNU or something, who knows.
I've changed the project maintainer to you. My latest bzr branch changes over to YAML instead of XML for the uploaded data, which needs to be done soonish. Best of luck to you.

Hi Angus,
I run Ubuntu on my Macbook, it works great and I can either boot directly into it or start it inside VMWare Fusion. Anyway, thanks for all the work you put into this! I'd be happy to take over maintaining the project for you, my launchpad profile is https://launchpad.net/~statik/

Well, I've got some bad news; my new Macbook arrived last week, and after several days with it I've had no urge to install Ubuntu on it. So, I'm going to be abandoning this project. If there is anyone who is interested in taking over, respond here and I'll see about moving the stuff on Launchpad over to you. I'm going to be on vacation and offline for the next few days, but please respond if you are interested.
Thanks a bunch to all the people who contributed code or time, and also to everyone who's found the project useful in some way.

load_entry_point('RescueTimeUploader==80', 'console_scripts', 'rescuetime_linux_uploader_gnome_panel_controller')()
