IM services are down - we are working on it!Hi all,
we are experiencing some unexpected difficulties with our IM platform. As a result it is currently impossible to access any IM service via Yoono. We apologize for the inconvenience, we are working hard to get the services back up as soon as possible.
We will update you on the status of this issue when we have more information.
Thanks!

Hi all, we have updated the Yoono Desktop Portable version here: http://cache.yoono.com/download/deskt...
We think this new version should fix the problem you were seeing.
Thanks for your help!
Guillaume Thonier replied on November 03, 2009 02:27 to the problem "Yoono Desktop Portable issue" in Yoono:
The most likely explanation for this error is that there is a file named "parent.lock" located in the profile directory, that is either corrupted or "locked". If you can remove this file manually, it should solve your issue and the "Yoono Desktop Portable.exe" program should run fine.
I will talk to our main engineer on this project to see if we can programatically recover form these deadlocks.
Thanks for the report!

If it is not automatic, you may need to specifically open the file with Firefox. – Guillaume Thonier, on October 27, 2009 19:02
Guillaume Thonier replied on September 03, 2009 18:48 to the idea "Automatic reconnect polling" in Yoono:
I will make a note of this and test it again for our next big release (in a month or so) to make sure we are handling this correctly.
Skype has the advantage of being a full fledge executable that has access to low level network information on your computer that let's them know immediately when the network becomes available again. We do not have that luxury unfortunately so our polling time is a bit longer.

Guillaume Thonier replied on September 03, 2009 17:31 to the problem "Frequent connectivity drops w/ IM clients" in Yoono:
Hi All,
we completed a server migration last night and some settings did not get applied correctly. As a consequence the error reporting mechanism is no longer working. I apologize for this inconvenience, we are looking into the problem right now and should have a solution very soon.
I will reply to this thread again once the problem is resolved.
Thanks

Help us solve your connection problems to your IMs (AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Gtalk) or your social networks (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter...)!If you are having difficulties connecting or maintaining connections to your IMs or social networks, we would love to get more information from you in order to better resolve your problem.
Here are a few relatively simple steps you can follow to send us some extra information:
1/ Install the following debug version of Yoono: Yoono Debug
This is a .xpi file, if it does not open automatically with Firefox, please manually select Firefox as the program to use to open the file.
2/ Restart firefox
3/ Go to 'about:yoono-help' on your browser. You may see the following message, asking you to restart Firefox. If so, then please click on the button to restart.
4/ Otherwise you will see the messages below. Please wait for the connection issue to happen and click on the "Send Problem Report" button.
5/ You will then be presented with the form below. Please fill it out completely. Make sure to include a 2-3 lines description of the problem your are experiencing! The more information we have about your problem the more likely we will be to find out what is happening and help you resolve the issue. When you are ready to send out your message, please click on the "Submit" button. (See below)
6/ Please note that the submission of your message may take a while. You will be presented with the "sending..." message below, please be patient and do not click the "Submit" button again.
7/ You can repeat the submission process as often as you want, just make sure you wait for the problem to happen and follow the steps 4-6 again.
8/ When you are done submitting the report(s), please click on the "Quit" button below.
9/ You will be asked to reinstall the current release of Yoono. Please follow the instructions and make sure to restart Firefox. (See below)
Remember that if you are experiencing more than one problem, you can keep running the debug version and send us more reports as the problem occurs.
Thanks a lot!
A comment on the problem "Yoono using over 150mb of memory" in Yoono:
100MB seems plausible, we are loading a fair amount of data for our discovery and recommendation engine. We are working on reducing this and possibly offer a version of Yoono without this engine.
Regarding the performance on startup and shut down, we are working on a brand new architecture that will address this issue once and for all. Expect it to be available in a month or so.
Thanks! – Guillaume Thonier, on August 24, 2009 20:58

Hi Kim,
we are indeed working on a new version of Yoono, that should be available in a week or so. This new version will have many bug fixes and a simplified and more comprehensive troubleshooting process - which we hope will help us diagnose issues like the one you are seeing.
I am very sorry for all this trouble, we are doing our best to understand what can be happening. – Guillaume Thonier, on August 18, 2009 00:59

Hi Jennifer!
Would you mind following the instructions here: http://www.getsatisfaction.com/yoono/... starting at step 1/
I know it is not an IM or SN problem in your case, but getting the log file should still help us diagnose the issue you are seeing.
Thanks a lot, I hope we can help you make it work soon!

Guillaume Thonier replied on August 12, 2009 19:16 to the question "Is Yoono causing spikes in FF cpu usage?" in Yoono:
We have indeed observed such a behavior. Yoono - like Gmail and other applications using advanced javascript features - sometimes requires a bit more CPU than other very simple applications.
We are currently working on a completely new architecture that will greatly reduce the impact of Yoono on one's computer.
We should have this new version ready in a month or so.
Thanks for your patience!
