A comment on the problem "OpenID login to chi.mp always goes to profile" in chi.mp:
Deleting the cookies did indeed seem to resolve the issue at hand. Interestingly, though, when I try to login to ma.gnolia.com *after* logging into gulopine.mp, I just get my gulopine.mp profile page. But other sites (such as simonwillison.net) work just fine. I don't know if there's anything wrong with chi.mp there or not, but it's odd, anyway. Thanks for the tip about the cookies, Jason. – Marty Alchin, on December 12, 2008 16:31

A comment on the problem "OpenID login to chi.mp always goes to profile" in chi.mp:
I'm not sure what the fix supposedly was, but whenever I try to authenticate with OpenID before logging into chi.mp, logging in takes me to the profile page, rather than chi.mp's authentication page. Then, I'm forced to go back to the original site and start a new OpenID process, which now works now that I'm logged into chi.mp. – Marty Alchin, on December 02, 2008 23:29-

Marty Alchin replied on October 24, 2008 14:21 to the question "adding multiple people to magnolia" in Gnolia:
There are dozens of different options for pulling contacts in, but the only one I've seen that's pretty much universal across social networks is Gmail contacts. Everybody supports it, either through the user/pass stupidity or through the proper Contacts API, so I've been simply using Gmail as my one-stop contact management system. If only one provider gets implemented, Gmail would get my vote.
Marty Alchin replied on August 26, 2008 21:45 to the problem "You guys seriously need to look into your avatar situation." in Brightkite:
If it helps you guys track it down, I'll explain why it seemed like they're cached somewhere. Initially, it simply wouldn't update my avatar no matter how many times I tried, or what format I used. I tried a completely different image (different size, name, etc) and it worked just fine. Then, when I uploaded an updated image with the original name, the original avatar came back. Out of thin air? I think not.
I'm glad to know the behavior isn't intentional, but it does seem like some sort of cache. Essentially, it changed my avatar, but to one that I hadn't uploaded in months. I thought it might be that the HTTP cache headers are set exceedingly high, causing my machine to pull the old image out of local cache, but after clearing everything and refreshing, same image.
Hope this helps, and thanks for the gray background response.
Gulopine reported a problem in Brightkite on August 26, 2008 02:15:
You guys seriously need to look into your avatar situation. It seems old avatars are cached by filename, so if I want to replace mine, I have to actually save it under a new name in order to get it to stick. That's in contrast to every other avatar system on the web, which just save the content that was uploaded, without question.
Further, color me completely confused as to why you'd put a gray background behind avatars. For most people, who use a regular image, this is just fine, but for people like me who use a transparent icon, I expected to have it show a plain white background through. Instead, it looks awful on an otherwise decent site.
Brightkite's decent over all, but these simple things leave a really bad impression.
Gulopine asked a question in MagCloud on June 19, 2008 19:23:
Any plans to bundle additional media? Is there any plan to bundle additional media in the plastic with the magazine? So that, for instance, a music or programming magazine could have a CD included with each issue?
