Could you just rely on codecs already installed on the machine?

Having an MP3 codec bundled means that Songbird (although under GPL itself) will not be ratified as free software by fsf.org and, therefore, wouldn't be included in truly free distributions like gNewSense.

I'd love to add this app to my libre desktop.
