I have imported a 3ds terrain model and I need to add a jpg image as a texture. How do I do it.

I have a 3D printer and I am investigating using Photosynth for producing the digital 3D model that I need so that I can use my 3D printer to produce a physical model. Can I convert a synth to a 3D standard format such as vrml,3ds or dxf.
