Getting in the gameI've been reading about how foursquare is going to replace twitter, and how it's better than brightkite, etc, but I'm not ready to give up on bk yet. Without bk's photo posting, notes, and bk wall and not to mention the better database and mobile applications I don't see how they can really touch it. The main thing they have going for them are the game aspects - like being a mayor, having wish to do's, tip to do's, and collecting points and rewards. There are some strong psychological and just plain fun reasons why this is a great thing.
I hope bk will implement a game aspect of some sort? I thought you were doing something with QR codes but that's not quite as fun or easy to implement.

As of today my photos posted via email are getting a Delivery Status Notification and so are not posting. I guess technically its the email that is getting the Delivery Status Notification.

guywire replied on March 22, 2009 03:28 to the idea "Check-in via EXIF Lat/Lng from Cell Phone Image" in Brightkite:
I would suggest that the best way to do this would be to put an option in the account settings allowing location to be updated via photo coordinates or not, and by default it would not (for privacy reasons, etc). But I would love to have it, as it would really simplify when I want to post a picture for a location.-

guywire replied on December 05, 2008 02:35 to the question "Guess my location in chrome" in Brightkite:
It appears to work in google chrome on a laptop but doesn't work on android. First time on android it said it failed, then I restarted it and it locked up the browser.
- update. It works on android if using a cellular network for data, if using wifi it locks up.
Works great in google chrome on the laptop though, from the i.brightkite.com address.
