Eric Hackathorn set one of Eric Hackathorn's replies as an official response to "avatar tracking" in Maya Realities
Eric Hackathorn replied on May 13, 2008 15:53 to the question "avatar tracking" in Maya Realities:
Denbeck,
In order for Maya Realities to track avatar behavior across multiple sims the land owner of each sim must install our sensor grid and agree to post a privacy policy. Long story short, we do not track avatar behavior on regions where we have no affiliation.
While there are technical limitations to Second Life data collection, this is primarily done out of respect for the privacy of Second Life residents. However, assuming you are a multi-sim land owner, our system will happily aggregate your traffic data across your entire estate. This includes *all* the avatars that visit your area.

We understand that watching avatars alone isn't nearly enough to form a complete picture in an environment as complex as Second Life. While it is more complex than our standard setup, your LSL enabled objects can be programmed to record various interactions directly into your data stream. More information can be found at:

First off, consider the free version of our service. It doesn't provide you with the fancy graphs and additional analytics available in our premium service, but it does provide you with the basic numbers you need to prove your campaign in Second Life was a success. This includes unique visitors, number of hours spent in your region, and average visit length for the last hour, day, week, and month.

If this doesn't suit your fancy, consider the following open source solution:

The price is right, but you'll have to set up your own infrastructure to support your data collection.

Eric Hackathorn set one of Eric Hackathorn's replies as an official response to "What requirements are necessary for an installation?" in Maya Realities
Eric Hackathorn, an employee of Maya Realities, replied on January 03, 2008 00:27 to the question "What requirements are necessary for an installation?" in Maya Realities:
If you are a business owning a minimum one "sim" land investment within Second Life then Maya Realities is for you. Once we process your order, a consent form is sent authorizing the deployment of our sensor grid. Upon receipt of the signed consent form, within one business day a setup package is delivered in-world to your organization's point of contact with detailed instructions. We also require the use of a media URL on a small but popular sub-parcel to collect "real life" visitor locations.
Also, a kiosk must be installed at a location of your choosing that informs visitors of your organization's privacy policy and provides visitors the option of opting out of personally identifiable information collection. This kiosk is not intended to be an advertisement for Maya Realities and can be customized with your organization's branding.
Maya Realities will optionally assist this deployment process for a nominal setup fee.
To initiate your service, visit our shop or send an email to sales@mayarealities.com with your organization name, region name, and Second Life point of contact.
