Hm, since any of these extensions could be causing the problem (although we haven't experienced conflicts with any extensions listed before), it would be best to try disabling all extensions.
Are you using TwitKit 1.0 on both machines?
If you're looking to open/close TwitKit via the Tools menu, you could also just do it by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F (Command+Shift+F on Macs).
If disabling all extensions doesn't work, please start Firefox (preferably not opening any tabs) and open your Error Console by going to Tools->Error Console or pressing Ctrl+Shift+J. Scan the list for anything about TwitKit - look carefully at the URLs for something like `chrome://twitkit`.

Firefox 3.0
Twitkit 1.0
Add-ons are:
Google gears 0.3.24.0
Google Reader Watcher 0.0.12.1
Stylish 0.5.7
Taboo 0.2.1
t was working today and asking for my login. I disabled all add-ons and gradually added them all back in and it is still working. Next time it is down, I will disable all the add-ons and try again.
Seems to be intermittent which is very confusing.

Hm, could you try visiting this URL?
http://twitter.com/statuses/friends_t...
It'll ask for a username and password - authenticate yourself, and you should see lots of data.. or no?

Okay, let's try this then:
(TwitKit should be closed while doing this.)
Go to twitter.com and log out. Delete all of twitter.com's cookies by going to Tools->Options->Privacy. Click View Cookies and scroll down to twitter.com. Select the folder and click 'Remove Cookies'. Next, follow the steps I described before to set extensions.twitkit.username and password to blank values.
Now, open TwitKit. Is it still signing you in?
A comment on the question "When is Twitter going to get groups?" in Twitter:
Perhaps if they're really buying Summize, they'll finally get behind the concept of hashtags. They are easy to use and don't require creating anything new. Summize + hashtags takes care of the scenario you describe here. (However, I think that's very separate from the concept of groups. Twitter would be smart to hop on that train; especially with FriendFeed and their "rooms.") – quepol, on July 09, 2008 22:42

Try typing in 'extensions.twitkit.password'.. is this set, also? (Don't tell me the value of this one, of course :P)
I would suggest setting both of these values to empty strings, and then reopening TwitKit. You should be logged out - is anything appearing when you are logged out?
Also, try signing in after running the above test - did that fix it?
