A lot of the problem would be solved, for me, if Facebook would let you default status to begin with "(name) is" like it used to, then the way I post wouldn't need the grammar correction at all.
But yeah, it's a decent workaround, and I do love the service, it's a minor quibble. Thanks for the reply! – harrysaxon, on April 06, 2009 02:34

That works, kind of, but I'm not wild about it; it always looks fine on Facebook and Myspace, but for Twitter, I can't use "is" as a verb, because "is going to dinner" looks silly as a tweet. And I don't like the way it puts my full user name in Brightkite, so it winds up as "harrysaxon: Chris is going to dinner" and makes me look like I'm talking in the 3rd person.
Though I guess my suggestion wouldn't fix the "is" problem anyway. – harrysaxon, on April 06, 2009 02:19

Custom usernames with Facebook login.I like the idea of logging in with my Facebook account, but I'd like to be able to choose a user name, like the way I use my Gmail or Yahoo account to log into Youtube or Flickr while still having a unique user name on those sites.
There's lots of people online I'd like to share my recordings with that I don't want knowing my real name.

Select which update types "adjust grammar" applies to.I'd love it if you were able to apply the "adjust grammar" setting to Microblogs, but not Status Updates. As it is now, my grammar is adjusted for all updates even if the "says:" isn't necessary by context. Sometimes I want to send a traditional verb-based status update to all my networks, and sometimes I want it to post a microblog that is grammar-adjusted for those sites that need it.
For example, I want to be able to send an @s that would come out on Twitter as "just heading out to dinner" and make my FB status "Harry is just heading out for dinner". But then I'd also like to post an @m that would come on on Twitter as "Has anyone seen the Watchmen movie?" and grammar-adjusted on FB, making it "Harry says: Has anyone seen the Watchmen movie?"
Perhaps there's already a way to do this manually and I'd love to hear about it if so, but I'd love a checklist beside the "Adjust Grammar" section that lets you select whether you want it to adjust grammar on status updates, microblogs, or blogs.

That would be great - if the "Delete" link was actually there like you've shown in the screenshot. All I have, when logged in, is "Check in again" and "Add to placemarks", no "Delete" option. – harrysaxon, on December 03, 2008 10:00-

Town name & location on map correct, nothing else is.Hey, I'm currently checking in from Ladner, British Columbia; it shows the town's location correctly on the map, but is misidentified as Ladner, South Dakota in the text description.
