Sorry, I can't accept a friend request??

I recently UNprotected my account but I'm still getting follow requests. When I click on accepting these requests (which are not showing up in my followers), I get the message: "Sorry, you can't access this in the way you've tried."

How do I accept this follower and prevent this from happening again?

I keep getting this message while trying to post an update in CoTweet. Also having a hard time posting an update directly through Twitter... Seen other updates so I seem to be having the problem myself...
