Tim, I determined I was not at Postbox 1.1 b1 - after installing 1.1 b1, I also automatically was prompted to update to Lightning 0.9.3.
As an aside, when I installed PB 1.1 b1 it disabled all the other add-ons and only gave an opportunity to install the Lightning update. Are there update versions of the other add-ons also available for PB 1.1b1 or a means to override compatiblity checking (as for Thunderbird)?
Thanks, guys!

If 0.9.3 is the solution to the problem then why isn't 0.9.3 available, i.e., running "Find Updates" for Lightning shows 0.9.2 is the most current. Moreover, going to Postbox Add-Ons web site shows 0.9.2 is most current. – HCRRay, on November 06, 2009 14:10

Scott, I replied to this email directly (as opposed to posting a comment), but apparently you did not receive my reply.
I've tried both suggestions and the problem still persists. For the next step of your walking me through (?), would it be more expeditious for you to call me (719-748-4710) or me to call you? Being able to access my POP mail (on my computer) is becoming very critical.
Thanks.

HCRRay replied on October 16, 2009 13:28 to the problem "Postbox totally unresponsive" in Postbox, Inc.:
Scott, since it is "totally" unresponsive, selecting Tools / Error Console does nothing. When Postbox starts it properly displays the accounts and if I click on an account, it displays the proper folders. Beyond that I have found nothing that works.
By the way, when I say it displays the folders - that is all that is displayed, i.e., no messages for a particular folder.

Postbox totally unresponsivePostbox totally unresponsive, i.e., displays main window with folders - but does not access Internet; does not respond to any choice, e.g., click on Postbox and Preferences does nothing. No longer shows any tabs.
I've download another copy of 1.0.1 and installed - no change.

Scott,
If I might call your attention again to my reply to you 19 days ago (never did hear back from you) - you'll note that I had multiple folders/emails deleted.
There was not a trace of any of the files associated with these folders - they were gone!
I do not have an anti virus programming running on my Macs.
I am disappointed that the problem apparently has received little attention as it is very serious!

HCRRay replied on July 10, 2009 17:27 to the problem "POP folders gone - thousands of emails lost!" in Postbox, Inc.:
I am very familiar with the directory structure for Thunderbird (and presumably Postbox).
I have four POP accounts/folders in the Mail profile folder.
For the particular POP account in question, there are twelve main level folders, including Inbox, Trash, Junk, etc.
For each of these folders there are three associated files: e.g., Business, Business.msf, and Business.sbd.
This is the actual name of one of main level folders that is gone - so far, I've identified two such folders. For the one mentioned above - all three files are now gone.
I have a backup from June 27th that contains these missing files - of course, not all the emails since that time.
I've also done a complete search of my hard disk for any folder with "business" in its name. None exists with the current date. Nor do I have any anti virus software running on my Mac.
HCRRay replied to "POP folders gone - thousands of emails lost!", but it was removed. see the change log

POP folders gone - thousands of emails lost! This morning I discovered an entire POP folder and subfolders - thousands of emails - are all gone! I've looked in the Postbox profile directories and confirmed they are no longer on my system!
I'm very hesitant to restart Postbox in fear it will wipe out/destroy other accounts/folders.-

Scott, although I am still getting better performance on my G4 PowerBook, two things have greatly improved the performance on my Dual G5: (1) the recent new release, and (2) I performed a full defragmentation of my system disk.
Though I am still puzzled over the poorer performance than my G4, I feel this item may be closed. Thanks for your suggestions.

need buttons for COMPACT & PURGE[OS X] Not sure just what the menu option for "Compact Folder" is suppose to do - but it is not purging deleted messages.
Please add buttons to perform both COMPACT and PURGE of folder(s).
Thanks.
HCRRay replied on June 30, 2009 16:02 to the question "Can't save drafts" in Postbox, Inc.:
OS X] When composing a message, I have Postbox set to do a save every two minutes. These saves should be going to the account's DRAFTS folder.
I am receiving a message that Postbox was unable to perform the save - message is repeated twice; then the message is saved into the INBOX folder.
All my accounts have a DRAFTS folder.-
