heidiperry replied on October 28, 2008 19:03 to the problem "Incorrect shape rendering" in Vivaty:
hi - the version number won't change... we changed some dll's that the player points to behind the scenes. from now on, every time we update the vivaty player version being used in the product, the .exe on our web site will automatically point to the new download bits.
so your problem should be resolved now
thanks,
Heidi

hi gana,
i talked to our dev team and this problem should be fixed with new versions of Vivaty Player and Studio.
Please make sure you have the latest copies here:
Vivaty Player --> http://www.vivaty.com/downloads/player/
Vivaty Studio --> http://www.vivaty.com/downloads/studio/
Please note that there will be a new version of Vivaty Studio going live on monday, 10/27 on that URL so you may want to wait 24 hours to try again
please let us know if this resolves the problem.
thanks,
Heidi

hi lara, thanks for coming back and trying Vivaty again! i will double-check but i don't think we were down for maintenance this afternoon. was it a facebook message or a vivaty message? hoping it works the next time you try. i would wait until monday (late in day) because we have a release (new halloween graveyard, lots of other features, a few bug fixes) so maybe that will help.
heidiperry replied on October 10, 2008 16:44 to the question "I'm seeing a lot of crashes" in Vivaty:
hey zilber, thanks for the note. as i said in my other comment, we have been really focused on new features for the last few releases. we're now going to do some "clean up" or bug fixing....
we monitor our crashes and repoted "doh!" screens and see that these are lower than ever... our # of scene edits, gifts, comments, and public scenes are all growing daily. so if you are having a problem, we'd love to find out more about your configuration. please send your dxdiag to us at help@vivaty.com. to get your dxdiag, go to the Start menu and type in "dxdiag". save the file locally and email it to us. And on Mac support, we hear you! we are working towards this because we know the Mac community clearly makes sense for this product. Like most other web businesses, we decided to launch as soon as possible then refine. that's why we're still in beta. thanks!
heidiperry replied on October 10, 2008 16:34 to the discussion "Vivaty on the mac" in Vivaty:
thanks for the opinions... we know there are a lot of technologies out there and ours has been in development for a while, just like Unity's. We don't think it's going to be the technology that predicts the winner here... it's going to be the user experience. So we have probably erred on the side of releasing new consumer features every 2 weeks (gifting, dancing, more gestures, more social scenes to explore, more avatar clothing/hair, new navigation UI, etc) and we're about to do a "clean up" release where we focus again on the stability. i just hope everyone realizes that there is no "perfect" answer in web-based virtual worlds yet. no one has the killer app yet... and many of the services that you mention, while they are on Mac, they are not as far along in other areas yet.

heidiperry replied on October 06, 2008 16:30 to the idea "Place to Share Resources???" in Vivaty:
hi pixotica,
thanks for the suggestion. we'll be re-launching our old gallery in a couple weeks. so you can upload 3d objects and scenes, rate them, post comments, etc. also, our old forums at community.mediamachines.com are still working and we know some people are still using these as a resource until we get our own forums... thanks!

Hi Chris! so exciting that your stuff is on its way. we will still be taking content submissions and showcasing stuff after 9/22, so please send it, we'd love to see it. thanks so much! let us know if you have any questions. – heidiperry, on September 22, 2008 03:27
heidiperry replied on September 17, 2008 16:42 to the question "Am I allowed to redistribute the Vivaty Player?" in Vivaty:
hi robsta,
thx for the background. and we are happy to hear you have checked out our tech and are pleased. long-term, we are open to developing a B2B install solution for companies like you- as long as it was driving mutual business benefit. So, imagine if the installer could be bundled w/ your tool but then it would point users to a 3D gallery or a consumer app at www.vivaty.com at the end of the install... for now that isn't built yet, and we're in engineering hell right now, so the only option for the short-term, i'm afraid, is to just point people to http://vivaty.com/downloads/player/
i know it's probably not as "connected" as you'd like but we hope you bear w/ us and keep in touch. you can always get in touch w/ tony parisi, our co-founder and head of our platform technology at developers@vivaty.com.
please keep in touch...
thanks,
Heidi
heidiperry replied on September 16, 2008 18:32 to the question "Why can't fieldofView be below 0.02 radians (1.15 degrees)" in Vivaty:
hi fxsknr, keith wanted me to post because he's having computer problems at the moment. It seems like you are trying to use the camera almost like a telescope. this is just a fieldofview we don't support... as most people are fine w/ larger fieldofviews and it seems most consumer-focused stuff would be larger than .1. are you working on something that's educational/medical? just wondering to put this in context.
heidiperry replied on September 16, 2008 17:34 to the question "Am I allowed to redistribute the Vivaty Player?" in Vivaty:
hi Robsta,
Perhaps you can give us a little more detail behind what you are trying to do with the Vivaty Player so we can understand your question a bit better. Currently the only content you can view with the Vivaty Player is in Vivaty Scenes in Facebook or AIM. You can also preview X3D work created in Vivaty Studio- the “preview” button in this software program is basically using the Vivaty Player.
The current build of the Vivaty Player is here:
http://vivaty.com/downloads/player/
So i guess the answer for now is "get the player on our site or in our apps and feel free to pass around the URL but we aren't distributing source code for now" but that could always change in the coming months.
Please email us directly if you’d like to further discuss. help@vivaty.com
thanks,
Heidi
