Any 'official' word from Get Satisfaction about this Eric?... lol – Alex, on February 23, 2009 00:06

There is an OpenID alternative to avatars: www.openvatar.com
However, I would love Automattic to support OpenID in the gravatar service - perhaps, instead of referencing an MD5'd email address in the Gravatar URL, they could have an MD5'd OpenID URL...?
I might email them and raise the question.

Gravatar IntegrationWe now have the ability to choose an avatar from different services around the web, what about Gravatar? The 'globally recognized avatar' would make life so much easier when trying to update your avatar across the interweb.
I'm trying to urge various web services to start using Gravatar, could SocialThing be one of them? Please?!-

Since the Gravatar acquisition by Automattic almost a year ago the service has been great - partly due to the PHP rewrite, and the better hosting capabilities of the Wordpress.com framework. – Alex, on August 20, 2008 16:08

Haven't heard anything about this in over 6 months now, is there any way we can push this feature forward? Perhaps get some feedback off users to find out how many would really find it useful?
Support for Gravatar integration to Twitter has been growing recently, I think the same kind of people would appreciate its inclusion in Pownce.-

I think that's an attitude a lot of large web companies should take; they all share the same goal, of making the user's experience easier and more enjoyable. By embracing other services, especially Gravatar I feel, they would go further to reach this goal.
My real aim is to get Gravatar support for all of the web services I use - Google will certainly be a biggie!

Gravatar for TumblrI'd really like the option to use Gravatar on my Tumblr account rather than uploading an image. It would make mine, and many other people's life so much easier!-
