no dont be sad ;) you know i like this idea as well, but i dont see if its practicable or not. to spread songbird is always the right idea, but i think its better to let the users choose which software they use, instead of bringin this beautiful app with an operating system. and with it someday an old version of it, so that you have to download it anyways.

but you should see the relation of adding firefox, which is as popular as f*ck (sorry ;)), such as VLC (google pays surely a lot to have earth added ;)) so it increases the positive meanings about mac, cause firefox are using so many people.. and of course people who are no pc-professionals... if i would know that firefox is on an apple i would have less fear to buy one because i know the software for browsing through the internet. and thats an important feature.
if you want songbird to be embedded in macOS, tell me how you would sell it to apple so i could have a better understanding for the practicability (dont know if this word exists).

how about more ways to customize songbirds interface?i dont know if you all know foobar, an impressive music player i think.
in the new version of foobar the interface is completely changed so you can modify every item displayed in the "main-interface". i mean the main songbird layout, not the browser.
now my idea, and what i would like to be added to songbird:
As in foobar there should be a "customize-mode" in which you can drag and drop and seperate the different media items and views, such as the media library (and how you want to categorize the media in it), actual playlist, the coming EQ, the playlist manager, and so on.
that would be just one solution. you could also add a menu item in the preferences to set the order of different window items.. but the "customize-mode", in which you can drag/drog add or remove items straight in the interface is just providing more clearness and simpliness to the users.
i would like this feature because you were able to adjust it completely to your personal needs.
and i think this is one of the important features that a high flying media player should have.
i just think of my behavior in changing my prefered media-software. it has to fit to my needs!
you know i actually like the layout of songbird and some layout pieces such as the right and lower one are customizable (dont know if this word exists ;)). but somehow.. since i have this great peace of software i would like to customize its layout on my own without any knowledge in skinning or programming
i actualy dont know if its really possible, but now i just wanna read your meanings and your feelings.
thanks for reading ;) greetings! DJB-

just download the .xpi . now open songbird. open its settings. go to the Addons section und click on the install button. now you choose the .xpi you want to install and restart songbird
i think in english its this way: Tools -> Settings (Preferences) -> Add-Ons -> Install Button (lower left side of the window)
DJB reported a problem in Songbird on January 24, 2009 21:21:
maximized songbird with upper taskbarhi folks.
i have set my windows up with an upper taskbar and when i start songbird (it has to be maximized because im using an eeepc with a tiny display) its starting every time behind the taskbar... so i cant move its window.
so i set every time the taskbar to disappear in order to move the window or set it with the rightclickmenu in taskbar to restore and maximize.-
