Avoid ASUS! They are scary, and leave you stranded
    AVOID ASUS!

ASUS has severely inferior customer service . . . worse than the usual "we-dont-care-go-to-hell" attitude of everyone else. People should **stay away** from ASUS, unless they are prepared to be stuck with lemon equipment. I bought a motherboard from them, which in a few short months turned out to be completely incompatible with a major update of Windows Operating System. This was a very popular motherboard, purchased by thousands of users, and when they phoned their customer service number for help with this serious problem, they were told *nothing* would be done and that they would not be helped in any way. It took six months before ASUS put out a patch, and they did so without notifying the affected users: The patch simply, quietly appeared. Most users had moved on to other brands and replaced their motherboard, and those who still owned this motherboard could only find out by word of mouth or stumbling across the BIOS patch on the ASUS website.

This issue is now in the past. Nevertheless, the company's behavior in the matter was so eggregious, and so harmful to innocent users (and also there is no indication that the company is in any way contrite or has changed its ways), that word of this incident needs to be put out into cyberspace and the bloggosphere to make sure prospective customers avoid buying ASUS products.
