it didn't work. you can see for yourself. the comments are wrong altogether now for this article with or without www. - http://highcountrypress.com/weekly/20...
and our homepage is again listing and linking to the wrong comments for the first story http://highcountrypress.com. What to do???? Also I had a coworker add a comment to a different article online during this process and I don't i'm getting the feeling anytime anyone adds a comment things go out of whack again. let me know what you think? it sounded promising but apparently the www. is not the cause of the problem. – highcountrypress, on August 26, 2009 20:16 -

also it seems the links provided in the original post to this thread now all display the correct comments and comment #s. not sure why it's working now when it wasn't yesterday? hoping you guys resolved something? also not sure if the problem has been "FIXED" or if this is just something that's going to reoccur once again. – highcountrypress, on August 26, 2009 12:38 -

none. it's primarily a static, non-database-driven site w/ a few exceptions. pages are made in dreamweaver and uploaded via ftp. we use server side script includes (SSI) to add global elements, including the ID comments generic install code to all of our web pages. – highcountrypress, on August 26, 2009 12:31 -

we are using the generic install code and have it added to each page automatically via SSI includes, which leaves the post_id and post_url fields empty by default. manually entering the URL for the post_id and post_url fields for the thousands upon thousands of articles on our website is not a feasible solution for us. -

Alright, I think I see what's going on. The problem seems to be tied to the inclusion of the prefix www. on the article URL and the post_id and post_url fields of the Comments Link. To see what I mean check out the comments sections of the following articles-

http://www.highcountrypress.com/weekl... - INCORRECTLY LINKED COMMENTS
only difference between the links is the www. prefix.

It seems to be tied into the defer="defer" portion of the javascript. is there a work around other than deleting in which seems to remove some of the css styling? -

i have the same problem. the only way I resolved was to change comment # to 2, but that doesn't solve the problem just covers it up. if i want to show more than 2 comments it says "No comments to display" even though there's plenty of other comments on my site. -

unfortunately, it still will not deactivate. I just changed the css to display:none; for that element so it won't be visible on the website, but it still won't deactivate from the control panel. -
