agreed - and I think that the major hurdle of how to do this is already addressed. A networked drive shouldn't be handled any differently than an iPod or some other external media device.
as mobile as computers have become, it's highly important to have chunks of your library be available sometimes, and unavailable at other times, without causing a major hissy fit.
for example:
I've got an NFS/SMB/Mac share where the majority of my music is kept. I stream from there for networked devices, desktop systems, etc.
I've got a laptop on which I like to keep a chunk of music for when I'm working, or away, or whatever.
and I've got an iPod that I want to be able to manage, either from my laptop, or my desktop, or whatever - I want to keep particular playlists in sync from the NFS drive, but if that drive isn't available, just deal with it and let me manage the device.
the major key here is to be able to treat the NFS device as "just another device". Keep the Library as the local stuff on the system, but view the remote stuff as a USB/whatever that's available when it can be connected to and isn't when it's not.
Make sense?

so, to pick this topic up again (I'm not the original poster) the point here wasn't really about the USB support - it was about the more general idea of having chunks of your library be available sometimes, and unavailable at other times, without causing a major hissy fit.

Can someone describe in detail the mink fabric?I'm interested in a bag, but I want to know that the mink fabric is something I'll like.
I can't find any good info on the site or any other google searches, and I can't seem to find a search option on THIS site for past issues...
