You could for example use Gimp, which is a free image editor.
See this tutorial for how to achieve the selective color effect using Gimp.

Hendrik K. replied on September 13, 2009 09:33 to the problem "iphone won't download the 3rd video in the help mode?" in ColorSplash:
I think I ran into this at some point before. But I believe it just took a long time to load. While the first movie is included in the app itself, the second and third stream over the net. And the third one is a lot larger than the second one. So ideally you want to be on a WiFi connection.
I just tried and the movie loads fine on my iPhone.
Which OS version are you using? In 3.0 there was a change so that there was no visual feedback that the movie was loading. It seems this got fixed in 3.1.
Hendrik K. replied on September 09, 2009 00:02 to the idea "Ability to crop photos for ColorSplash" in Juxtaposer:
Hi,
thanks for the suggestion.
I am sorry to say that I won't be adding a crop feature any time soon. Maybe sometime, but it is pretty far down on my todo list.
There is a free cropping app, which I haven't tried myself. It is called "Crop for Free". And there are general image editing apps which include a cropping feature. I recommend the excellent "Photogene".

Hendrik K. replied on September 06, 2009 20:23 to the question "Can I email my pictures directly from my phone?" in ColorSplash:
Hi. Yes, you can email your pictures. Just go to Apple's "Photos" app, find the picture and click the button in the bottom left (the rectangle with an arrow coming out of it). Then select "Email photo" from the sheet that appears.
Note that this approach will reduce the resolution and quality of your picture somewhat.
You can get around that by using copy and paste instead. In the Photos app, click and hold on the image, then click on the "Copy" popup when it appears.
Then go to the Mail app, start a new message and paste in the image by double clicking in the text area and selecting "Paste". This should preserve the full resolution and quality of the image.
In some future update I will add a feature to email the image directly from the app itself though.

Hi.
As long as you log in with the same iTunes account, you will be able to re-download all the apps you bought before and you will not be charged again. Simply find the app in the App Store, click the "buy" button and you will then see a popup telling you that you already bought this app and that it is therefore free for you.
Hendrik K. replied on September 01, 2009 21:22 to the question "Colorsplash application picture taking on another application identity" in ColorSplash:
The last update was on June 17.
The problem you are having is one with the OS, the ColorSplash app itself has no influence on this.
It seems that most often this particular problem affects people who have jailbroken their phones. Which in general can lead to all sorts of weirdness.
In any case, you might have to restore your phone to get everything back to normal.
Hendrik K. replied on August 30, 2009 07:23 to the idea "Size Suggestion" in Juxtaposer:
Hi,
thanks a lot for the feedback. In my other app ColorSplash I already implemented saving in the full resolution of the original image. For Juxtaposer implementing this is quite a bit more difficult, but it should be doable.
Once I get around to it, I might just always save in full resolution (rather than making users choose). I don't think the few seconds longer save time would be a big issue.
I do currently have a lot of things on my plate, so it might take a while, but I'll try to make this happen eventually.

Hi Mark,
that is a great idea. Which is why I already implemented it a long time ago ;)
You can disable the auto-rotation from the Settings app (under the ColorSplash section). You can then still force a rotation of the image to the current device orientation by tapping the screen with three fingers at once. This is also described in the help page in the app.
