Virgil Dupras replied on November 22, 2009 16:43 to the idea "Total time frame" in Hardcoded Software:
Such a date range would be useful, I concur. But then it's a matter of defining when it stops. Should future scheduled transactions be shown in this date range? If yes, until when?
Or maybe that the last X custom date ranges used should be saved and made accessible easily in the date range selector... I'm a bit worried that I'd end up overpopulating the date range selector if I add too many of them.

Virgil Dupras replied on November 16, 2009 13:59 to the problem ""Unconsumed" budget value remains as transaction" in Hardcoded Software:
Yup, it's definitely a (embarrassing) bug. I created a ticket at: https://hardcoded.lighthouseapp.com/p...
I'm working on it right away, and I hope to have a release ready today or tomorrow.
Virgil Dupras replied on November 15, 2009 19:21 to the problem ""Unconsumed" budget value remains as transaction" in Hardcoded Software:
After some preliminary tests, it indeed seems like budgets linger around after their time is up. I'll take a more thorough look at it tomorrow. Thanks for bringing that to my attention (how the heck could a bug like this slip through??).
For now, a workaround would be to change all your budget start date so that they're current. Annoying I know... Or wait a few days, I'll fix this asap.

Thanks. I reproduced the issue and created a ticket at https://hardcoded.lighthouseapp.com/p...
Virgil Dupras replied on November 11, 2009 19:42 to the question "dupeGuru PE won't complete analyzing images" in Hardcoded Software:
I have just tried to scan a usb connected camera (I don't have a SD card reader) with dupeGuru PE under both 10.6 and 10.4 (Intel) and it worked alright. I doubt that PPC can be the issue here.
One thing that I'd like to be sure: Typically (and on the camera that I have just scanned), the file system is FAT16, not FAT32. Are you sure that your SD card is FAT32 formatted?
Also, if you move a folder that makes dupeGuru choke from your SD card to a simple USB key, does that folder continue to make dupeGuru choke?

Virgil Dupras replied on October 29, 2009 09:05 to the question "Transferring funds from income to expenses" in Hardcoded Software:
Under no circumstances will a transaction between an income and an expense change your net income (which is total income - total expenses). If you create a transaction with "from" being an income and "to" being an expense, this transaction will result in an increase in both income and expense.
If your expense account is decreased, then your income account should be decreased as well. If you want the opposite to happen, switch the "From" and "To" columns of your transaction.
Virgil Dupras replied on October 22, 2009 09:29 to the idea "Not yet as good as Audio Comparer.. but should be." in Hardcoded Software:
Comparing audio files like Audio Comparer seems to do (by comparing audio data) requires significant amount of work, and I'm not convinced by its usefulness.
Tag-less audio files are rather rare, so I think that basing a duplicate search on tags is enough. It's also way faster. If your 110 dupes had tags, then it's very probable that a tweak in your dupeGuru preferences would have been enough to find them.

Virgil Dupras replied on October 13, 2009 12:13 to the question "xp 64" in Hardcoded Software:
I don't have a copy of win xp 64bit, but since it's supposed to be able to run 32-bit apps, I don't see why it wouldn't work (I tested dupeGuru on a 64-bit installation of win7 and it worked alright).
Could you contact support@hardcoded.net so we can try to troubleshoot the problem?
Virgil Dupras replied on September 19, 2009 12:58 to the question "DupeGuru ME won't move files to trash" in Hardcoded Software:
When dupeGuru can't send a file to Trash, it will log a message in the Console (the Console is an application in /Applications/Utilities) with the error number supplied by Cocoa, but this number is usually useless (but if you can find it in your log, you can tell it to me anyway, maybe it will be helpful this time).
At this point, the best way to delete your duplicates would be to use the "Move Marked to..." action, and to move them into temporary "to delete" folder on your NAS. If the move works correctly, you can then send your "to delete" folder to Trash through Finder. If it doesn't work, the error logged into the Console will be more helpful to determine the cause of the problem.
Virgil Dupras replied on September 18, 2009 09:12 to the question "DupeGuru ME won't move files to trash" in Hardcoded Software:
This error is most likely caused by permission problems (you don't have the permission to delete these files). What you can do to be sure is to use "Reveal Selected" on one of the files that couldn't be sent to Trash and try to send it to Trash from the Finder. If you are asked for your admin password, it means that it's permission problems.
There's another thread with procedures for fixing permission problems there: http://getsatisfaction.com/hardcodeds...

You are right, the scheduled transactions aren't deducted from the budgets. That's a bug, thanks for spotting it!

I tested moneyGuru 1.6.2 on Tiger, and it seems that my solution for shortcuts doesn't work on it. I run Snow Leopard and I haven't created a Leopard test partition yet, so I don't know if my solution works on Leopard. What do you run? If you run Leopard, please let me know how 1.6.2 behaves (It's going to be released in about an hour). – Virgil Dupras, on September 09, 2009 09:26
A comment on the update "Upcoming: moneyGuru 1.6" in Hardcoded Software:
Good news! I implemented the arrow shortcut "manually" (rather than through the main menu), and they work without interfering with the text based shortcuts (so a preference is not needed because there is no reason to turn them off). This will be a part of the 1.6.2 release. – Virgil Dupras, on September 08, 2009 13:36
