The only way that putting "Compilation" in the AlbumArtist field would work for me is if this happens: http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/t...

At the moment, sorting on the AlbumArtist field is impractical as most files don't have the AlbumArtist metadata in them. – hubfaction, on July 27, 2009 16:32

Field for "Album Artist or Artist"

Could there be a virtual field that uses Album Artist if it exists and Artist otherwise?

That way I could tag compilations with Album Artist as "Various Artists", for example, and still be able to sort by Artist on single-artist albums.
