Emily Hummel replied on October 16, 2008 04:35 to the question "How well supported (by PBwiki v.2) is Safari v.3.1.2 Mac?" in PBwiki:
I don't want to quibble, and this is coming from someone that uses Safari as their main browser, but you can't edit images in Safari.
I'm talking about dragging to change the size as well as being able to right click and change dimensions, location, things of that nature -- it works fine in Firefox, but not at all in Safari. This makes me very sad, because it's not fun to have to open up a whole different browser just to change aspects of an image.
That being said, that's the only problem I've found... and Rachel I know you said you were looking into a work-around -- has one been found yet?

Yes, but you don't have an account that is a Reader on my Wiki. I'm assuming that all your students would have pbwiki accounts linked to your wiki?
I went and added a separate email as if I were a second person -- but I had to create a pbwiki account for them. Have you tried creating a separate account as a test on your wiki, giving yourself access, and testing it out? You should be able to make the settings so that someone can read and comment on a page, but not edit.
Emily Hummel replied on August 17, 2008 20:41 to the question "I want to Lock pages but still have comments available" in PBwiki:
I believe you can do this by setting the page security to "Lock this page so only Administrator can edit it" -- comments should still be enabled!
I tested this out on my wiki, here: https://seagarden.pbwiki.com -- the FrontPage is secured as such, and I made a new account (Reader, to fully see) and I was still able to comment.
Hopefully this helps?

Casey, I've transferred one of my 1.0 wikis ( https://seagarden.pbwiki.com ) over using the beta-testing goodness (among other things) but I plum forgot about a second one I have (clearly, not a top priority). Should I just sign up in that switch form you linked to, or do I have to do something else?
Thanks so much! – Emily Hummel, on June 22, 2008 17:02

Rachel: Awesome! If a work-around isn't possible, using Firefox (now v. 3!) for my wiki is working just dandy... so I'll just keep using that. Thanks! – Emily Hummel, on June 18, 2008 15:49-

Rachel: I am using 2.0, with a platinum wiki. I mostly use Firefox, since I have quite a few images, but every once in a while, I forget, open Safari, and while everything else in 2.0 works *fantastically,* it's just the image re-sizing that doesn't appear to work. Sorry about not being clear -- I'll blame it on the early hour when I posted! :) – Emily Hummel, on June 18, 2008 15:41

Emily Hummel started a conversation in PBwiki on June 13, 2008 19:38:
What if we *need* apostrophes in our page titles?Ok. I know that apostrophes cannot be used in page titles (though if they are, it turns them into a silly "%27," but I wanted to start talking on possible solutions for page titles that *need* apostrophes.
I think it's fine that the urls have no apostrophes (no need!), but it is the translation to the automatic "title" of the page that is a sticky wicket. I know this doesn't sound clear, but I've made one of my wiki pages public to clarify:
https://seagarden.pbwiki.com/Sylviana...
It's the orange text to which I refer -- in this case, it looks sloppy if I can't use an apostrophe in the possessive sense... Is there any way we could make those titles of pages separate from the exact URL?
(pretty please? :) )
Also, if it's of any concern, I'm using a 2.0 wiki, and I'm platinum.
