Ian set one of Ian's replies as an official response to "I'm having problems using Songza" in Songza
Ian replied on January 20, 2009 19:55 to the problem "I'm having problems using Songza" in Songza:
Hey all,
I'm sorry for the problems that you're seeing - we recently corrected issue with imeem samples from a few days ago and you shouldn't be seeing 30 second samples anymore. We are aware, however, that on the other side of things occasionally songs will skip over the final 10-30 seconds. We're working on that problem too right now and hope to have a solution live on the site as soon as possible.
As for the issue with http://ads.imeem.com/ads/amf not loading for you, simpleton, I'm unfortunately not able to replicate this right now and I'm wondering if it is still happening for you. If it is, could you let me know which browser you're using and whether you're using any browser extensions such as Ad Block, Ad Block Plus, NoScript, FlashBlock, etc.
Best,

srp, Andrew, and Rhodes,
Sorry for the problem you were seeing with 30 second samples. We recently corrected this problem from a few days ago and you shouldn't be seeing any 30 second samples anymore, although we are aware that on the other side of things occasionally songs will skip over the final 10-30 seconds. We're working on that problem too right now and hope to have a solution live on the site as soon as possible.
If you do continue to see any issues, however, definitely please let us now.

BigThermometer and OldRockSongs,
Thanks for your ideas.
As you might understand given the two opposite opinions presented in this idea thread, we're looking at different ways of pleasing both people who prefer one music provider over the other (regardless of which they prefer) and those who aren't as concerned with the provider. We've got some ideas relevant to both your concerns on the table and you'll see all of our improvements on the site as soon as they're completed.

Hey all,
Both the issue with imeem songs not loading until you've returned focus to the tab containing Songza and the issue with songs occasionally skipping ahead early are definitely known ones and we're looking into different solutions right now. Although the problem of songs skipping the final 10-30 seconds might have the same symptoms as the problem being reported when this thread was first created, the source of the issue is now different so we're looking at newer solutions.
We do have a number of temporary solutions in place that should alleviate much of the problem, but you will still sometimes see the early jumps forward.
Unfortunately the technical details are fairly tricky and though we're trying to solve this issue as quickly as possible it might take a some time before we have a 100% fix pushed out to the site.
Thanks a lot for your patience while we work on this.

Jad,
I'm sorry for the problem that you're seeing and we're definitely aware of the issue with songs not completing. Although we've pushed through a fix for the problem of some imeem songs only playing 30 second samples, there is a known outstanding bug related to songs being cut off a bit early, especially when there is an especially long loading time or if the song is paused at some point during playback.
We're hard at work on solution for this latter, remaining issue and hopefully you'll see a solution pushed out to the site for it very soon.

Ian replied on November 28, 2008 19:21 to the discussion "How do i disable video from loading, slows song loading time." in Songza:
Hey all,
I definitely understand your concerns about video vs. audio, and although we love the idea of implementing any improvements that will give our users more exact control over their listening experience, this particular suggestion would be in conflict with the YouTube Terms of Service to which we agree when we use their API to present you with music. Because of this it's probably not something that we'll be able to do in the near future.
Thanks a lot for your understanding on this.

jimsrfun,
Thanks for letting us know that you have a problem, and I'm hoping you might be able to provide a bit of elaboration on your problem. We do have a known issue with songs being stuck at the 'Loading' step. Is this your issue, or are you seeing something else?
Any details you can provide would be great, and thanks a lot for your patience while I continue to look into this.
