Ian marked one of Sean's replies in Ping.fm as useful. Sean replied to the problem "Ping.Fm down?". Ian and 8 other people think it's one of the best replies.

I've been transferring domains recently between hosts and understand all the authorisation codes required, there is also paperwork with any change of ownership of the domain.
When it is a country specific domain like .fr, .de or .fm, as in ping.fm, then the paperwork needs to be printed and posted and that can causes problems if someone, either the sender or the host transferring or the host receiving, mistypes something. In some situations, the regulator (ICANN in America, Nominet in the UK) legally needs to be notified.
Personally I am transferring my international domains (.com, .net etc) to GoDaddy as they're the cheapest for those domains and I've never had a problem with them in the year that I've used them. My hosting however is with another company and my UK domains are with a third company.
I'm sure it will be sorted soon and all the connections will be back up and running. I guess it will be more cost effective, and perhaps more reliable (not that I've ever found ping.fm offline before).
I'm happy because I know it's coming back and I empathise because I know it's frustrating waiting unable to do anything while you wait.-

A comment on the problem "sexual spam" in Twitter:
Your Twitter feed does look genuine, albeit with a link in most posts, however you're example isn't obviously a spammers link until clicked upon. Also a female name with a number on the end is the format favored my most spammers so I would suggest you change your username to something more relevant to your show or without a number. – Ian, on October 15, 2008 19:11

Your example link is an affiliate link redirected one or twice to a registration page for another social network. Why? You act like a spammer. – Ian, on October 15, 2008 18:17

I think I had eight spammers - all of them sent to @spam but what is the format for sending a direct message to http://www.twitter.com/spam? I guess it's "d spam spammername". Thanks.-

Ian replied on October 07, 2008 01:50 to the question "Is there a desktop application for ping.fm?" in Ping.fm:
If you use Twitter, try the "Spaz" Twitter software client. It connects to Ping.fm which resends the message to all your networks. It use Adobe Air, so it works on Windows as well as Mac and you can get it here:

At the very least, an alert should be an option when a goal is met. For example, if I aim to limit how much I do of something, then I want an alert which, for example, tells me to stop social networking and do some work! Then I might make enough money to donate to cool products like this!
On number 3, do you mean you can't yet re-order?-

Ian asked a question in Slife Labs on September 15, 2008 00:21:
Please add weekly and 'up to' in Activity EditorA few suggestions:
Please add "up to" [maximum time] and weekly and monthly into the Goal tab of the activity monitor. This feature would be far better if more conditions could be added, along with "all" or "any" rules like the iTunes smart folders. Once the maximum time is reached, an alarm should triggered so I reduce time wasted on something.
What do the red, green and gray colors in the Activity Editor mean?
Under "Visualizations" the Activity Editor" is what I am using most by far. Can these be moveable into a different order?
How do I remove applications that were added earlier but no longer used?
Finally, I would like to know which podcasts I am spending too much time on or not enough time on. I don't believe I can do any more than see how long I'm on iTunes.

A comment on the question "SMS is *not* supported so please don't claim that it is." in Ping.fm:
SMS for the vast majority of people does not require getting their phone on the internet, which for the vast majority people is not something they know how to do. It is also expensive to use the internet on a mobile phone whereas SMS text messages are often inclusive/free as part of a contract. This means it is anything but the same thing, it's not even similar.
Perhaps I should say I drive a Ferrari because a teenager, upon seeing my car once, thought I did, my car in reality is worth 100th the value of a typical Ferrari. – Ian, on September 14, 2008 22:45
