Some observationsDuring the signup process, I was presented with two messages that looked like this:

I do not think that having the same message twice is helpful. I also do not think that "1 error prohibited this honk identity from being saved" is a particularly good way to phrase this message. How about "Sorry, we could not create your profile.". The fact that you need a 6 character password is _your_ problem, not mine, so don't use words like 'error' and 'prohibited' please.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 (32bit), Firefox 3.0.13, Flash 10,0,32,18 (the latest version, according to Adobe), and I get sound with no problems. It's a bit hard to say if something's just broken in 9.10 (it's still early in its release process, right?), or just your particular combination of software.
A few things to check may be:
- are you getting sound during ads? those are delivered slightly differently.
- can you get sound on sites like Youtube?
- can you get sound on full-length episodes on sites like NBC.com or CBS.com? – Ilya Haykinson, on August 27, 2009 18:34

There's an "availability note" at http://hulu.com/sliders stating:
Season 1, Episode 7 is unavailable due to rights issues.
Unfortunately, sometimes there are things much outside of our control that prevent an episode from becoming available on Hulu. This can be something as trivial as the music in the episode not having been licensed for digital distribution, or having some very specific list of distribution methods (reruns, syndication, VHS... but not online, since it wasn't common then).
We obviously know quite well how unfriendly it is to have all of a season...except for one episode. We will continue to work with our content partner to try to get through whatever the specific issue for that episode is, if it's a solvable problem, to get this episode in the future.

That's definitely not the way the buffer indicator is supposed to behave. If it's showing up as full then you should be able to watch several minutes of content without any pauses.
Can you tell me if it's still happening, and give me an example of a particular video, as well as your Hulu username and an exact time (and timezone) when you watched it? I may be able to take a look at the logs and see what happened.

Thanks -- we're always working on getting additional seasons of series that we have on our site. Sometimes this is not easy, since rights to some seasons may be owned by different companies. I'm not sure what the situation is with Sliders, but rest assured that in all cases we would _love_ to have the entire series and are always working to make this happen.

I'm so sorry that you are running into slowness with videos. There could be many different reasons that this is happening, and unfortunately without some additional information I can't help you very much.
However, there is a way that you can run some diagnostics that will help us troubleshoot the problem in more detail. Go to http://www.hulu.com/support/streaming and fill out the form there, and submit it to us -- we'll try to reply within a few days.

I don't believe that we were having problems with our web site when you wrote in. It's possible that there was a temporary glitch just in your location, since we're using a content distribution network. Can you please try again, and if there's still a problem just let me know where you are (your zip code), your IP address (you can get that by going to http://www.changeip.com/ip.asp), and the address that you get when you open a command prompt or terminal and type "ping hulu.com"?

Hulu currently only offers video for playback via our web site, hulu.com, as well as anywhere on the web that our Flash player is embedded, and a few other distribution sites which have most of our library. Because of this, I can only help you with using the Hulu service via the web. Please direct questions about PlayOn to the makers of that product.
