A comment on the problem "Create a 'reorder' ability for Typelists" in Six Apart:
I think you might have to use a Notes Typelist and hand-code the images and links. Search the Knowledge Base for instructions. The advantage of hand-coding is that you'll be able to put the images in any order you like if you put them all in a single Notes entry.
As for your second question, my opinion is that Typepad's prime focus has become making money from blogs (for their clients and for themselves) and not functionality or quality. That's why I left. I'm infinitely happier with Blogger. – IslandBookworm, on November 15, 2009 18:33

Is it under the Publish tab? If not, maybe they took that feature away. I guess you'll have to start a help ticket to find out. Sorry! – IslandBookworm, on November 12, 2009 19:11

I'm not sure, I just cancelled my Typepad account so I can't go look and see, but there should be a settings or configuration tab for the Typelist you're working on and it'll be on there somewhere. Hope that helps! – IslandBookworm, on November 11, 2009 22:37

Make sure you have the Typelist set to sort by title, not by date. – IslandBookworm, on November 11, 2009 21:50

I gave up on Typepad months ago. If you want to move to Blogger, here's how: http://classical-bookworm.blogspot.co... – IslandBookworm, on October 11, 2009 22:10

It seems to me that you could use any editor and just copy and paste the raw HTML into Typepad's HTML editing pane. Copying and pasting the WYSIWYG text is always going to be problematic. You'll have to insert images manually in Typepad unless you host them elsewhere.
If it's such a big issue, why not move to another host with a better editor? Blogger has just updated theirs and Wordpress has always been good. And they're free!
A comment on the problem "Why isn't it easy to add Adsense?" in Six Apart:
I had my qualms about getting more deeply embedded in the Googleverse too but its gravitational pull was too much for me! They just do great work. I just try to keep my personal info off the net and hope the watchdogs are watching Google. – IslandBookworm, on September 21, 2009 21:11

A comment on the question "New compose editor won't paste text correctly" in Six Apart:
Brian, you might want to try using Windows Live Writer to compose your posts. It works flawlessly, and also lets you "paste as plain text" to remove any formatting from the page you copied from. It also has real WYSIWYG preview—you can see your post exactly as it will look on your whole blog. It's brilliant. Even after moving to Blogger I still use it because it is so easy and functional. Beats every blog platform's native compose screen, I'd say. – IslandBookworm, on September 09, 2009 05:03-

Thank you, Sampaguita, I am extremely happy with Blogger. It isn't a question of "quitting" or "winning" with Typepad. I am not in control of Typepad and there is nothing I can do to change Typepad. It's not up to me. All I can do is choose the platform that works for me and right now that is Blogger. I'm glad you're happy with Typepad. I just want the ones who aren't happy to know that they can move and it's not that hard. I wish someone had told me that a long time ago. – IslandBookworm, on September 07, 2009 16:16
A comment on the question "replying to comments - email vs comment" in Six Apart:
Yes, it's just as you say. It's too bad Typepad doesn't keep up its Known Issues blog because that might save you the time to respond to the same issue over and over again. Seems to me it would be easier to just make one (informative) posting and push it out to everyone by email or dashboard alert than to copy and paste it hundreds of times in help tickets. – IslandBookworm, on September 07, 2009 16:12

Colleen, thank you thank you thank you for admitting that your help staff used canned responses. It was obvious, but it's nice to hear it finally said out in the open. Just being straight with people will help a lot. – IslandBookworm, on September 07, 2009 15:56
