I agree completely! This is like paying for a new OS version-all-new codebase and UI! I don't see people complaining about paying for OS X Snow Leopard or Windows 7 if they already have Leopard or Vista...

I somewhat disagree. I like both icons, but the new icon looks more sophisticated than the old one, which looks a bit dated with the iPhone-style shading and all. I think that a sleek light blue underglow on the chat bubble would be perfect for the new icon, which is a bit too monochromatic.

Not only did the dark and chat bubble themes add some customizability, fun, and additional elegance to Tweetie, they increased usability factors for many users (chat bubbles-lots of color, good spacing, dark-soothing on the eyes). Please add them to Tweetie 2.

If you add a dark theme, please do not make the text entry field dark; it looks very odd and feels unpolished.

This is a good idea. I recommend doing it Tweetie for Mac-style: unviewed tweets are slightly brighter than viewed tweets.
