A comment on the idea "tracklists for dj mixes" in SoundCloud:
I always answer, Marco :)
Bas, I always include a link to my website which has full tracklisting and buy links :) – J-dubya, on November 26, 2009 23:00

Hmmm, this track plays on the affected computer from an embedded player on other websites (such as Facebook). So must be a glitch with this particular track, Firefox and SoundCloud on my computer. Caching issue? I will test more and report back.
And I can only imagine the IE8 script errors are because its security is locked down. I don't care about IE. I'm sure heaps of other people would be complaining if it was an issue.

Thanks, George, Matas.
Yes, I still have this problem.
Weirdly, I've discovered today at work, it plays for me too on a different computer / internet connection (logged in or logged out).
I've tried removing cookies for the domain soundcloud.com on the affected computer but that didn't change anything.
I've successfully listened to tracks (of different durations and users) on SoundCloud all weekend on the affected computer, before and after the issue with this track.
Nothing has changed about my browser configuration recently.
I have discovered a new problem as a consequence of this issue: http://support.soundcloud.com/soundcl...
J-dubya reported a problem in SoundCloud on November 23, 2009 12:59:
Public, but dropboxed, track will not show in "Tracks from people you follow"Shortly after a newly uploaded track had finished creating its waveform I added the track to another user's dropbox by going to their page and selecting it from tracks I'd already uploaded. Anyone who's done enough tinkering knows that this effectively lists the dropboxed users hidden under the "privately shared" bit in the editing options of the track, even when the track is set to public. BUT, if there is anyone in this list when public, your track will NOT show in the "Tracks from people you follow" http://soundcloud.com/tracks/following of users following the uploader of the track, which is not very helpful, and surely a bug?
I can't be sure but think this also prevented the track from being published to the Dashboard of my other account that was following. However, when I removed the dropboxed user by going into the private sharing section, saved, went back, set to public, saved, the track then appeared in the Dashboard of my other account that was following.
I tested this with three of my accounts. E.g.
UserOne uploads a track normally via http://soundcloud.com/upload. UserTwo is following UserOne and can see the new track in his Dashboard and "Tracks from people you follow" http://soundcloud.com/tracks/following. UserOne then dropboxes the track to UserThree. Nothing has been edited about the track and it is still public. UserOne and UserThree are not following each other. UserTwo can no longer see UserOne's track in "Tracks from people you follow" although it is still listed in Dashboard. UserOne edits the private sharing of the track to remove any users from the list (there was just UserThree), saves it as privately shared to zero users, then edits and saves it again as public. UserTwo can once again see the new track in his "Tracks from people you follow".
I've discovered that hypem's tracks http://soundcloud.com/hypem (a very popular SoundClouder whom I'm following) show on my Dashboard but do not show in my "Tracks from people you follow" - the filter checkbox is not ticked.

New upload won't play on IE or FF after waveform created.I have a specific problem in that the 1hour 59min 17sec track I just uploaded will not play on Firefox 3 or Internet Explorer 8.
http://soundcloud.com/fuse-oxford/fak...
I have enabled the track for 128k streaming and deselected 'downloadable'.
This was about an hour and a half ago. The waveform creation has finished.
Firefox downloads the track in the background, in other words there is massive network activity and the streaming player waveform goes from light grey to dark grey (although not in the normal left to right progressive fashion, it just all goes dark grey when the network activity finishes). However, no amount of pausing and pressing the play button will get any sound. The time index underneath the play button changes to "-1.0-1 / 1.59.17" and no orange vertical line play indicator appears.
Internet Explorer just doesn't want to know. Typical. The play button does nothing, and doesn't even start the background downloading. The following script errors happen. In both IE8 and compatibility mode.
Other tracks are playing fine.

J-dubya reported a problem in SoundCloud on November 10, 2009 23:48:
Dashboad still very slow in Taylor releaseI can't remember when it started but the dashboard in the new Taylor release still gets stuck, eating up 80%-100% CPU. Only solution is to refresh the dashboard. After deleting a few entries and listening to a few items, same thing happens again.
I can't even use the Show More feature at the bottom of the Dashboard because this alone will cause the problem of CPU overload above.
I fear it's an overload of Flash players on one page. In my experience Flash is notorious for hogging CPU cycles. But a necessary evil on SoundCloud of course!
Things I would really like to see implemented:
1) option to order items by oldest to newest going down the page, because that's the natural listening chronology, right? I don't like having to listen to the newest stuff first to reach the old stuff (because of the Show More issue mentioned above)
2) option to show only links (no Flash) to track/set pages in Dashboard. So others with this issue can work around this problem.
Here are my details:
Firefox 3.5.5 on Windows XP MCE SP3; 2Ghz (overclocked) AMD Athlon; 2Gb RAM.
And I often have many tabs open, but I'm careful not to have any other Flash objects running when I use SoundCloud!-

Ability to favourite / comment on Sets.We can Favourite individual Tracks, so why not Sets?
I just listened to this and I want to Favourite it http://soundcloud.com/zer07/sets/yeah...
Would be good to be able to comment on Sets too.
Thanks.-

More HTML support in description fieldPlease could you add support for more basic HTML in the description field of tracks, especially lists for DJ-set tracklists (ul, ol, li etc.)
J-dubya replied on September 29, 2009 19:36 to the idea "2 ideas to make the volume control accessible at ALL times." in SoundCloud:
"The company implemented this idea."
Where? My volume control is still stuck at the top of the page.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3
It would be good if the volume control would remain static whilst the page is scrolled. CSS fixed positioning? This would be especially useful when listening to tracks on a very tall Dashboard. Some tracks are mastered and some are not, so I find I'm constantly scrolling up and down to readjust the volume.
OR, give us the option to order the dashboard by oldest stuff first? I always listen to older stuff and make my way to the newer stuff.
Or both the above options :)
J-dubya replied on September 29, 2009 19:18 to the idea "Spammy privately sharing of files" in SoundCloud:
My problem is I'm receiving bulk privately shared tracks from people I've never followed. It's a shame that I had to adjust my settings to turn off e-mails after I was bombarded with a series of privately shared tracks by a user.
I suggest:
Free accounts should have a hard limit of private sharing, say 50 per track/set. Pro accounts can privately share to unlimited or, say, 5,000. Maybe even tiered upwards with the different pro accounts.
I personally would only like to know about tracks privately shared to me that I am allowed to download, not just stream. This would stem the exponentially increasing amount of users that are cottoning on to the fact that they can push their "Beatport Exclusive" track to an audience on a non-opted in basis! I'm only really interested in the 'privately shared' and 'dropbox' features for unsigned and upfront promos.
And finally, yes, a block option would be most welcome for serious repeat offenders who have no respect for the fact that your musical taste is totally different to theirs.-

A comment on the question "Podcasting 101 with SoundCloud" in SoundCloud:
Good, but this is a very manual approach. Would like it to be automatic from soundcloud.com in future if possible please?
Also, does anyone know of a way to add a podcast to iTunes without downloading/installing iTunes?! – J-dubya, on August 03, 2009 20:58

7 months ago? And it's still a problem? Would have hoped this might have been fixed in the Kim release.
I reported this problem here: http://getsatisfaction.com/soundcloud... 4 months ago which does not seem to have been noticed.
