jac2 started following the question "Embedding google maps/other code" in PBwiki.
jac2 shared an idea in PBwiki on April 02, 2008 08:56:
I want Embedded variables/tokens in pagesi want to embed codes, like formula fields.
e.g. <original_author> <last_author> <last_edited>, the list goes on.
We are using our WIKI for our company procedures etc etc and have a requirement to review etc. also, it would be useful to be able to make assignments e.g.:
<set_last_reviewed>20080101</set_last_reviewed>
then later <last_review> and it to show the date. We want to have a rolling review process and don't want to have to manually maintain such things.
So suggestion 1 = Embedded variables
Suggestion 2 = Assignment of variables.</last_review></last_edited></last_author></original_author>

Telling them where the resource is. The paths are long and would reduce the chance of them opening the documents.
**If I could write my own URI launcher (like file: skype: etc), then how would i construct the link in the PB1.0 in the editor?**
I'll take a look at interceptors as I call them.
That way I could have:
ourfile: somedir\file.doc and in my interceptor enforce:
1) no root dir access, so the above would be mapped to m:\docs\somedir\file.doc
2) No ..'s
3) Restriction on what types of files to launch.
Cheers, JAC

jac2 reported a problem in PBwiki on March 13, 2008 12:38:
Can't link to local storageWe have a private WIKI and want to link to documents on our LAN. Obviously if we access when not on our site we won't be able to see them, but we are happy for that. What we don't want to do is have to duplicate our local storage online.
Is there a way of launching a file e.g. m:\docs\applicationForm.pdf

Cheers, didn't even know about "Forum Test Wiki". Yes, I started off logging a support question, but I think it is a "permutations" problem and pbwiki don't want to (and quiet rightly), get into writing sites for people. I have in parallel to this thread replied a couple of times to support. I will re-issue a support question and point them to this thread and let you all know the outcome. BTW - Firefox's Firebug is amazing - don't know how long it would have taken me to work out all the effects of all of the css' otherwise.
Thanks again - JAC.

Unfortunately does not work for me. The one in the https://vs1.pbwiki.com/common_both-v0... is still taking precedence. In terms of your webpage, which css is referenced first (in the one using the stylesheet). The common.. appears before the wiki.css.
It seems fairly draconian to use the "important" flag in a high level css if you are actively encourages to tinker with the CSS'.
Also, why do you think that https://vs1.pbwiki.com/common_both-v0... is not in your wiki, I didn't add it to mine?
TIA - JAC

OK, I am using firebug, looking at the css's in effect at the point h1 is rendered. It appears that https://vs1.pbwiki.com/common_both-v0...
is taking precedence
#displaycontent h1 {
font-size:24px !important;
}
Do you not get this inyou wiki pages?
jac2 replied on February 18, 2008 11:10 to the question "Editing h1, h2, h3" in PBwiki:
OK, well, if it works for you, then we are getting somewhere, now all we have to do is work out the difference between your set up and mine.
I am sure it is not working in mine. H1 is set to 2em in the skin and I am setting it to 1.3em. In the wiki.css editor page, you can clearly see h1 is smaller than h2 (as we want), BUT when you look at one of the wiki pages, H1 is still larger than H2.
I have also tried different skins without success, so I am stumped. Unless the "wiki.css" that is being supplied when you first go into the page is wrong. saved incorrectly etc.-

I have the same problem. I have gone to settings and used the css editor in the package. I also asked support who suggested that I tried:
#displaycontent h1 { font-size: .6em !important; }
Which skin / theme do you use, we are using "que" or something like that.
I looked at the fully rendered page and #displaycontent h1 is declared in a style sheet that is before the wiki.css. I would have thought that styles were accumulative, So if you declare #displaycontent h1 and then redeclare is later in another css, it would change any params you changes in the second one. Is this correct.
I am not a CSS expert. Anyway, not entirely happy with the answer, so if anyone can shed light on a good solution.
jac2 asked a question in PBwiki on February 15, 2008 16:36:
moderated pages (even if I am wiki Admin / Owner)Hi, I am the owner of a business Wiki. For the content, there are some things I know and some things I think are correct. I want to edit a page of the Wiki and not make it live, but tag it to be moderated. I think as an Admin on the wiki, my changes just go live.
Cheers Jason.-

orphaned page reportSo our business WIKI is 120 pages and I am getting concerned about getting an unmanageable nest :-)
As a developer I am used to the following reports:
- Orphaned pages (ones that aren't linked to)
- Used by (this page is referenced by)
- Complete list of external links
And these available as pretty html (see all pages) and raw text (delimeted)
I am new to PBWiki and may have missed that these exist already.
Cheers,
JAC.
p.s. didn't even realise I have moved away from pbwiki when I clicked support.
