Jack replied on June 24, 2009 06:48 to the question "no 'save draft' option after initial chapter" in Protagonize:
heyy, currently the Draft feature only works for Stories, and not Chapters. it would be harder to include them with Chapters due to the collaborative nature of the site, so I don't think Nick has plans of introducing a save system for Chapters quite yet.
Two suggestions are to Copy+Paste your 'draft' chapter into a Word document, or into an email if you aren't on your personal computer.

Jack shared an idea in Protagonize on April 12, 2009 04:39:
Temporary 'fix' for blogging / ranting.Alright, so I know that Protag is n o t a blogging website, but a lot of us have outbursts of feelings and such in a very... non-literary fashion.
So here's my idea: add another story category, called "Blog / Rant" or somesuch, and, if it is possible, have it set to be un-rateable or something like that. This might be easier than developing a new blogging system, but I’ve never done web development so I can only really make assumptions.
You could also have a flag similar to the “mature” one, so that the contents of a blog post don’t show up on the feeds across the site.
Again, I can only contribute ideas, and have no clue about their feasibility.
(:

Lack of TeaserNot really a problem, but a minor inconvenience. (Hooray for thesauruses.)
Anyways, when posting a new chapter in a solo story the tab for "Show Previous Chapter Teaser" isn't there. I often use it to remind myself the tense and POV I started out with, as I have a nasty habit of switching them both in a chapter and between chapters.
That's about it.
Thanks!

Jack replied on January 01, 2009 05:55 to the problem "why is it not publishing my stories" in Protagonize:
If the problem hasn't been resolved yet, it would be helpful to Nick if you let him know what webrowser you are using, as well as the edition of it. I believe that IE6 is no longer fully supported on the site, so that might be your problem right there.
A simple mistake that I often make (and I mean often) is forgetting a title. Just double-check that you have all the required information (Title, 40+ words, tags and 1-3 categories).
Hope this helps!
Jack.
Jack replied on January 01, 2009 05:47 to the question "There should be a way to terminate an addventure branch." in Protagonize:
Although there is not a way to put a capped "end" on any branch or chapter, with the Addventure stories it is possible to have branches loop backwards to past branches, including the "root" of the story. Simply click the "Link to Previous Branch" text, and the rest is pretty simple from there.
However, it is true that there needs to be two or more branches. I might suggest making one a link to the beginning, and the second a link to the preceding branch.
Hope this is helpful!
Jack.
Jack replied on December 14, 2008 07:06 to the idea "Lets show unread stories" in Protagonize:
I know I'm not Nick, but deal with it, hahah.
One of the best tools on the site at the moment is the "orphaned stories" categories, which displays only stories that have not yet been branched. This is great for finding different postings that have been 'swept under' and forgotten.
That's about the closest we have right now, besides browsing manually by category or tag. It would be nice to have that sort of button, though, kinda like the "random article" on Wikipedia... wasted SO MUCH TIME with that ting.
Cheers!

Where /is/ my 3.5?Just an idea, but is it possible to include the story/branch in the message saying "Your postings have been rated 1 time for an average of 3.5?" It would be nice to know what exactly is being rated, especially when people start reading older postings that I no longer keep track of as much.
Again, just a thought.

Notification Clonesheyy Nick. i don't know if anyone else has brought this up, but recently the personal notification system on the site has started making duplicates according to how many posts one has in a story. for example, if someone posts a new chapter in Haiku 2, i'll get three notification because i have three chapters posted.
i can't remember this happening before, only in the last week.... just bringing it up as a small nuisance, don't know if it can be properly fixed due to the wonderful technicalities of the coding process.
cheers,
jack.
