I agree, Dustin. I have thought of switching to Disqus just because this feature is so important to me.

Can someone from ID speak to this?

I installed ID on a blog I've had for a while. In the time I've had the blog I've made comments in response to my visitors' comments. Is there a way for me to "claim" the comments I've made in the past, before I had ID? I'd like for them to all visually appear to be from the admin of the site.

Akismet: ID Settings and WP Plugin

I see on the IntenseDebate settings page there's an option to enable Akismet for spam protection. I'm using ID on my self-installed WP site where I'm also using the Akismet plugin.

Question: Do I need the plugin active AND the settings option checked for Akismet to work? Or can I shut one of them off? If I can turn one off, does it matter which one?
