Right click on the Mozy icon on your toolbar. Make sure that "suspend" is not checked. If it is checked the uncheck it and restart the backup. If this doesn't resolve the issue check to see how much free space you have on your hard drive. You will need 150% free space of the largest file for the encryption to take place.
If you have sufficient free space and suspend is unchecked please send me your log file (C:\Program Files\MozyHome\Data\Mozy.log) to James@mozy.com

James replied on May 11, 2009 18:00 to the question "Does Mozy recognize disconnected external HDs?" in Mozy, Inc:
Mozy supports drives that your OS recognizes as "fixed." Mozy does not support "unfixed" removable drives such as DVD/CD-ROMs, media cards and some thumb or flash drives.
It is also correct that if the external hard drive is removed and a backup runs it will remove the files from the backup. Keep in mind that the files that you backed up will be safely stored on our servers for 30 days after the backup. If you did remove the external drive and run a backup the next backup would need to reassociate with the existing backup. Reassociation takes longer than incremental backups but will not take as long as your initial backup.

I want to address this problem with our support team and look more in depth into the errors which you have been experiencing. If you are having frequent pauses with the program stating "communicating with server" please email me (James@Mozy.com) your email address that is associated with your Mozy account. In the header will you please put the title of this question "My backups take almost twice as long as they should. Why?" so I know which topic to address that would be much appreciated.
A comment on the question "My backups take almost twice as long as they should. Why?" in Mozy, Inc:
Files are recognized at the hash level. If you backed up a file and then deleted it from the backup set. Then backed up without that file and then ran another backup with that file included. Mozy will recognize the file and will re-associate the file with your already backed up files. Which means Mozy won't have to re-backup the file in it's entirety only the changes that occurred since the time of deletion. – James, on May 06, 2009 20:10

Anthony,
As mentioned before MozyHome is only for a specific computer. As you mentioned when you upgrade you "lost" your 4 GB of data. Free is a little different where you can set up a second computer to backup using free quota. A work around is to set up a different account for the two computers that are not being backed up by MozyHome. I think I found an account of yours that hasn't been activated which I would be more than happy to allocate 4GB's (free) to if you are interested. If so please email me at James@Mozy.com and let me know you are from GetSatisfaction. Thanks again for using Mozy.

With MozyHome you would need two licenses one for the virtual and one for the physical.
MozyPro on the other hand you could purchase one license+storage and map the backup. If this is a personal computer and you have more than a few GB's to backup I would suggest purchasing two Home licenses rather than the one Pro license which would cost effective.
