James [bkkeepr] replied on September 13, 2008 12:58 to the question "how do i get a bkkeeper username?" in bkkeepr:
Hey zoltancsaki - you need to be using Twitter (http://twitter.com) - the username is actually a Twitter username, not specifically a bkkeepr one.
Follow the instructions here: http://bkkeepr.com/how

Hi wembley -
It's an interesting idea, but I do feel it's just substituting one arbitrary piece of information (the nick) for another (the ISBN) and it would still be pretty easy to get the nick wrong - forgetting whether you'd called War And Peace 'warandpeace' or just 'warpeace' for example.
While fiddly, the ISBN is at least consistent, and always in front of you. I'm always looking for ways to simplify the process, and although I don't think this is quite it, I'll keep doing so...
Thanks for the kind words, and glad you like the service.

@eyloni - nice one, and it's done :)
Search is a little complicated, but you can now add a book to bookmooch directly from books pages. More info: http://tinyurl.com/6zhswl
Cheers guys! It's been a bit quiet recently, but have some interesting developments on the way...

Jeff - It's been there from the start. Just log in to LT, then hit 'Add to LT' on a books page (e.g. http://bkkeepr.com/books/9780753823798) or click the little '+'s on your user page.
James [bkkeepr] replied on June 12, 2008 09:50 to the idea "Deleting entries and following other readers" in bkkeepr:
The problem here is authentication. Bkkeepr doesn't do logins, as this would massively complicate the site (I'm not *really* a coder, I just hack around), so there's no way of bkkeepr knowing (atm) who you are, and what records to delete.
At some point in the future, it may be possible to send a DM from Twitter saying delete the last message, and I'm going to start thinking about how to implement this. For the moment, I'm afraid it's just a bit fast and loose. I myself have done the ISBN thing several times, and although I hoped it would be easier, I now include the ISBN every time to be sure.
With regards to following other people, you won't be able to do this on bkkeepr exactly, but I'm working on doing something with your Twitter followers... stay tuned (but don't hold your breath ;-).

Hey Tom - if you can find me a 'similar books' API, I'll do it, but this is *really* hard to code (see the rubbishness of Amazon recommendations). When bkkeepr grows some more, it may be possible to do a bit of cross-referencing, but I'll probably leave this to the grown-up web apps.
Do what I do, and use bkkeepr to keep your LibraryThing account up to date, and LT will do all the heavy lifting in this area.
Thanks for the kind comments.
