Cosmo Kramer replied on November 18, 2009 01:07 to the question "why make new version require .net 3?" in Snapact:
We will look into this, but we are quite certain that we have no dependencies on .Net Framework 3. Can you explain specifically how you are encountering .Net messages? What steps do you take?
We do recommend updating your Windows XP to the latest service pack, but that is, of course, your decision. ;)
Thank you!

Cosmo Kramer replied on February 08, 2009 18:35 to the question "Batch Mode for Tags" in Snapact:
Hi Steamer,
Thanks for your interest in Snapact - this is a great question. You can, in fact, do what you ask. Assigning tags to multiple photos/pictures is actually quite easy:
1. Select the photos you want to assign the same tags to. (using Ctrl/Shift keys with arrow keys or mouse)
2. In the bottom pane of Snapact, where it shows photo information, you'll see a "Tags" box where you can enter tags separated by semi-colons. Easy as that!
There is a bit of a caveat to this though: when you have selected 2 or more photos that already have DIFFERENT tags assigned to them, it will show "Multiple Values" in the box. If you assign new tags in the box, it will currently remove the previous tags from those photos and assign the new ones. We consider this a bit of a problem, so we're investigating ways to fix the issue.
That being said, if the photos already have IDENTICAL tags assigned, it will continue to work fine.
If you have any suggestions, we would be more than happy to listen.
I hope this helps! Thanks again for the most excellent question.
Cosmo Kramer replied on February 07, 2009 17:16 to the question "I need to rearrange order of photos in album!" in Snapact:
Hi pdschoe!
At this time, we do not have the ability to 'custom' sort (rearrange) photos in an album. It is on our list of things to do in upcoming releases, however. This one is actually fairly high up in our priority list.
We appreciate that you took the time to contact us and ask us this question - mostly, we are glad that you have helped to validate the need for this feature.
Thank you, take care and please enjoy Snapact!

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for taking the time to pose this question to us. Finding duplicate photos has been on our feature radar for a while now, but as of this posting, it is not in the Snapact Photo Manager.
We will definitely add your voice to this feature's list of supporters.
Thank you for your interest in Snapact - we aim to make our Photo Manager and Online Sharing Community better and more feature rich over time. Feature suggestions like this are always welcome!
Take care!
Cosmo Kramer replied on February 05, 2009 20:34 to the question "How can you apply tags to your Pictures?" in Snapact:
Hi Richard,
Thank you for asking this question. We've tried to provide this information in a previous posting here: How to edit photo information in Snapact
Specifically, add the tags, in the manner mentioned, separated by semi-colons.
I hope this helps! The fact that you've asked this question means that we'll be looking at ways to improve this workflow.
Thank you for taking the time to share this with us!
Cosmo Kramer replied on January 09, 2009 14:37 to the question "Why properties are unavailable?" in Snapact:
Hi Aracne,
This is purely functionality that hasn't been implemented yet. The menu item "Properties" slipped into an earlier release than planned. I'd like to personally apologize for the confusion caused here.
Our next release should address this issue.
Thank you for choosing to contact us about this - we appreciate the feedback!-

Cosmo Kramer asked a question in Snapact on October 27, 2008 15:10:
How much space do you get or how many photos can you share with Snapact?Snapact currently does have a limit of 250 photos that you can upload for sharing. This number was arrived at by a couple of factors: guesswork, and our testing needs. We are planning to increase this over time.
As Snapact is very new and our userbase is growing, we need to determine what appropriate limits will be (we're aiming for unlimited, but we'll see!) given average usage per user. We are tweaking code here and there to make things as efficient as we can.
As always, user feedback and the fact that we monitor the 'quota' limit on the website will be good indicators that we need to increase that limit.
We encourage users to sign up and try the Snapact Photo Manager and Sharing Community. Share your thoughts with us - you'll be surprised at how receptive we are to what you have to say.

Ruceb,
I just noticed your 6th point about multi-language - whether I missed it completely the first time, or you added it after... I am sorry. Let me try to answer it briefly here.
Our user base is just beginning to grow - we want to support everyone and their language, but as we're just beginning, that isn't entirely feasible yet. I do like your idea about community-based language translation, so we will definitely give it some more thought.
I have to admit that I was quite surprised to see so many people of different languages and cultures interested in Snapact - I'm happy to see the interest, but it does indeed put a new emphasis on supporting multiple languages. It's on the list of things to do, of course.
Take a look at the Snapact blog - I try to put up a weekly top 10 country list. Maybe you could improve Germany's standings...? ;)
Thank you,
Kramer

A comment on the idea "some quick suggestions/wishes for future versions" in Snapact:
Specifically, the "keyword:" advanced search option searches against the Tag metadata field.
If you single-click on a photo thumbnail and look in the Info pane at the bottom of the Browser window, you'll notice a few bits of photo information like Filename, Title, Description, Tags, etc. 'Tags' are something that you can assign to a photo to further describe and organize your photos. For instance, you might assign the tags 'water', 'blue', 'boat' to a photo containing a boat in the water on a bright blue sunny day. Tags are also useful when your photos are shared online in your Snapact account for browsing around photo collections.
We will be making it easier to use this searching feature in the future by using common terms - for instance, "tag: blue" instead of "keyword: blue". That should make things easier.
I hope this helps,

ruceb,
Points for us to take note of and follow up on:
- look to improve the advanced search feature
- look to improve the way we do multi-monitor support (browser and viewer at same time, perhaps)
- look to add some sort of direct image comparison feature
- add in an easy way for users to identify the version information
At this point, we are collecting suggestions, and I have to say that your suggestions are valid. That being said, it isn't possible for me to say right now whether we will be including specific functionality or not in the Snapact Photo Manager.
We make note of and review user suggestions regularly, so please do not think that we are dismissing your ideas! It is a part of our strategy to keep the Snapact Photo Manager simple yet usable.
Thank you very much for your detailed input!

ruceb,
Good to see you here on GetSatisfaction from the Snapact review on Freewaregenius. As a bit of a side note, I have to say that Freewaregenius.com does have some great insight on some little known but excellent free software. Samer does a good job.
All of your comments have merit, and we will be keeping track of them for future product enhancement. In particular, the thumbnail refresh and perhaps RAW support stand out as common user requests, meaning we will likely focus on those initially.
Thank you for the (potential) comparison to ACDSeePro - it's quite flattering. We think that ACD Systems has made some great software, so thank you for mentioning us in the same sentence!
We have a bit of a path for Snapact that we fight hard to stay on - keeping the product and sharing service simple and easy, yet functional. It is easy to add functionality; it's difficult to add functionality and maintain that simplicity and ease of use though. Usability is extremely important to us.
Keep the feedback coming!
Thank you,
Kramer
Cosmo Kramer replied on October 25, 2008 22:49 to the question "Do you plan on supporting a background sync?" in Snapact:
tom,
Great question. Background synchronization has been discussed among the Snapact founders in the past, but it's implementation has been delayed as we wanted user feedback on exactly what the user experience would be. It is important to note that we want this implemented as well - we just want to be sure to do it the best possible way. What would YOU like to see in this type of synchronization?
- continue syncing while the Snapact Photo Manager is shut down OR
- allow syncing in the Snapact Photo Manager while still browsing/viewing your photos OR
- both of the above
We have our own ideas of how to do this, but it's a fairly complex beast to attack, so when we do we want to do it the best possible way.
Feedback and suggestions are always encouraged and appreciated. Keep coming back - our appetite for user feedback is voracious!
Thanks,
Kramer-
