James Cridland reported a problem in Socialthing on September 03, 2008 13:33:
There's a favicon missing from https://socialthing.comIf there was a favicon, then I could "add SocialThing as an app" using Google Chrome that much better. Copy/pasting the existing file from the http server would be a splendidly wonderful thing, if someone could fix that...
James Cridland set one of James Cridland's replies as an official response to "How to keep the Jerry Springer iPlayer?" in BBC
James Cridland replied on August 30, 2008 21:10 to the question "How to keep the Jerry Springer iPlayer?" in BBC:
Unfortunately, programmes are only available to watch for seven days, and only within the UK, via the BBC iPlayer. This is due to a number of reasons including rights. As at the time of writing, there are five days left to watch it.
However, the programme site does contain some clips and more details of the programme which you may find useful. I think these clips should be available anywhere in the world (but I'm not sure). The direct web address is http://www.bbc.co.uk/whodoyouthinkyou...
Additionally, previous series of the programmes have been released on commercial DVD, and it may well be the case that this new series will also be released in the same way.
Incidentally, getsatisfaction.com is not an official place to leave feedback (we're trying this out for a few products); so if you wish, please do use http://www.bbc.co.uk/feedback/ to get an official response.

James Cridland replied on August 24, 2008 13:56 to the question "Search!" in BBC:
You're asking, not unreasonably, for a "scoped search" for services like /programmes, /music and /iplayer. I spoke on Friday with a nice man called Matthew who's in charge of search, and now I shall be bringing this proposal up in official channels in the next week or so. Thanks for the idea: it seems blitheringly obvious.

For those that don't speak BBC, the new "identity" feature is "the new user account system" (you know, the thing that lets you sign in). User input into /programmes is on the feature list, so I've marked this "we're working on it"; though possibly not 'corrections'.
Sophie is a BBC employee, incidentally, not that she's showing up as one in here quite yet.

iPhone web app is very error intolerant, and loses updatesIf you write a lengthy update on the iPhone web app, a little JavaScript popup appears saying "Got that! We'll post your update!" or something. And clears the text.
If however you write a lengthy update on the iPhone web app and your iPhone temporarily has no data connection, a little JavaScript popup appears saying "Oh dear! Something is broken!" or something. And clears the text. Forcing you to type the update in again when you do get coverage again. Except the 'submit' button is greyed out. So you then need to reload the webapp page. Grr.
This is more irritating than a very irritating thing with a big sign on it saying "This is irritating" which sticks pins in your arm repeatedly, while singing a song about pixies in a very high-pitched whine. With halitosis.
So, ideally...
if (successful) then {clear the text}
if (not successful) then {don't clear the text, and don't grey out the submit button}
Thanks.

URLs incorrectly linked in commentsLinks are incorrectly linked if they miss the http:// bit.
As an example, this update says "colalife site has been hit 85 times already tonight. Cool! www.colalife.org"
In this example, www.colalife.org has been highlighted as a clickable link.
Expected behaviour: it would link to http://www.colalife.org/
What actually happens: it links to https://socialthing.com/www.colalife.org
https://socialthing.com/www.colalife.org is, of course, a (quite nicely written) 404.
Good. Hopefully that's clear enough? Yes? Excellent. Bye now.
