jamie replied on September 25, 2008 15:54 to the question "more customization options on the Bag Builder" in Timbuk2:
sly little link to a competitor there! no, not really though. reload is cool, we're cool, two cool companies can exist without competing. simple answer: millions of options = higher cost of bags, more room for human error, longer time to make the bags, and, ultimately, more unhappy customers (read "The Paradox of Choice", fabulous book. the more options people have, the less they're satisfied with the decisions they DO make). so we're trying to keep it simple, but keep y'all happy. delicate balancing act, but i'd say we're doing pretty damn well so far.

no can do, dude. the Hayes Street store fabrics are like special little bonuses you get for actually going to the store. like special candy for store kiddies. like bonus prizes for being in San Francisco. like cool dang (or how does Palin say it? Dern?), cool dern fabrics that our cool dern store staff gets to sell and feel special. dude.

A comment on the problem "Order Problems, Zero Customer Service" in Timbuk2:
dude! don't barf on us! seriously, we make pretty damn awesome bags in our factory downstairs. if you want USA made, it don't get more USA than San Francisco. And the Asia made bags are still rad. I have to gently (but completely, wholeheartedly) disagree with you. and would still do so even if I didn't work here. I work here cause the company IS a good american company (although I also like to believe that my working here is part of what makes it a good American company, cause I'm rad, too). – jamie, on September 24, 2008 23:48

the meeting is done. and we discussed how better to respond to y'all, so we can get you answers faster than you can think of questions. do you have a missing order or a random product question or wondering if you can light your bag on fire like that other dude who wanted to retun the bag he lit on fire? cause i know how to answer that one.
if you tell me what you're lookin for, i can help you find it.

jamie replied on July 17, 2008 21:54 to the question "I melted my bag AFTER it ripped so I could use the zipper..." in Timbuk2:
Well, Thad, here's the deal: your bag shouldn't have broken. That's the simple part. But you, Mr. Crafty Pyro Man, shouldn't have taken a lighter to your bag. We don't want to discourage craftiness, but we also don't want to encourage craft projects that involve hurting your precious Timbuk2. So the multi-pronged answer is this: Since the bag broke, we will issue an RMA. Call or email customer service for details. HOWEVER, should any of you super renegrade craft fair peeps out there decide to make your bag into a planter or a rocking chair or a fancy pair of earrings, you will be effecitvely VOIDING the schmancy warranty we so happily stand behind.

jamie replied on July 11, 2008 15:55 to the question "lex backpack custom options: oranganizer pocket in front? center divider?" in Timbuk2:
nope! i don't know why the organizer pocket has to be on the back, but i do know that the center dividers we have for the messengers simply will not work on the lex pack (shape, size, everything is all different). it's a good idea, though. that is one bucket of a bag (which is rad if you want to be able to carry as much as humanly possible).
