The ability to remember seen tweets would be perfect. Is very annoying to check the really new ones since they all have the yellow star.

Add me to the list of people who would like to see this configuration feature implemented. Like many others, I don't get that many directs or replies, and it's annoying to have year-old replies show up every time I launch twhirl.

me too, it would also help when switching between work computer and home computer so I don't get confused over which tweets I've already seen and which ones I haven't...I think that's a slightly different solution than what you're talking about and would require a server based solution to coordinate between computers.

Nick is totally right. It's kinda ridiculous to have a "mark seen" feature, that only works on a per-session basis. Please fix this!

This is frustrating. I suggest adding a configuration checkbox that is defaulted to off which states:
__ Load the previous 20 tweets, replies and direct messages upon startup?
