Question about iPhone Developer becoming Whitelisted

I'm wondering if being whitelisted on Twitter is only for software developers that are using the Twitter API or can I still get whitelisted even though I am a software develper that doesn't use the Twitter API?

OK so I open the wizard, choose other, and then enter my email address and name, then I click next input mail.chicken-studios.com and the error comes up.

Well mine is mail.chicken-studios.com so I'm thinking that "-" could be an illegal character, however I have a SSL server aswell that is web12.justhost.com and that doesn't work either.

When trying to add my account when I click continue on the incoming server page, I get an error that says "Please enter a valid hostname" the account works fine in Apple Mail.

I'm using OS X 10.5.7

When we add an app do we really need to put in the download app, because I want to use this for beta testing. But can't give a download URL until it's on the app store.
