A comment on the question "What information on your wiki should be cited using Footnotes?" in PBwiki:
First, Ruth, I LOVE your slideshow. I've used slide on my site also, but hadn't seen that slide design and definitely want to adopt it! Here's the bad news, tho. Photos you find searching Google images aren't necessarily copyright free. I use sites like Flickr and specifically search for those with a Creative Commons license that gives me permission to use them. (There's also now a "Free Use" Group on Flickr that doesn't even require that you give credit, but the number of photos available at least so far is very limited.) Then, I also give credit by including a footnote with by (name) at (url). It's frustrating when I can't find what I want, but I try to live within those copyright guidelines.
I do feel differently about book covers. I may be wrong on this, but I DON'T worry about getting permission or giving credit for a book cover, since I figure I am actually advertising the book for the author. – Jane, on August 19, 2008 15:13

I'm very pleased to see that PBwiki has included a footnotes option and very glad to hear everyone saying that they require students to give credit for ALL sources. We need to teach students to give credit to all material they get from another source. As a teacher librarian, I spend a lot of time in library lessons helping students learn how to capture the bibliographic information for different kinds of sources.

I think the new option of creating student accounts for students without emails is great. Before you introduced this, I had to let students all share one account, and I couldn't tell which one made a change. It's also great having the flexibility to add people three different ways in one wiki. The one additional enhancement I would like would be the option to change a password once the user is entered.

Jane asked a question in PBwiki on March 28, 2008 20:45:
Sharing my wiki without invitationsI just created a wiki, and believe it should be set as an educator version. In the past, I was able to set a password for a wiki and anyone who I told that password to could make edits. Now, I can't figure out how to set a password for the wiki (I can only set one for me), and I can't figure out how to let others edit without inviting them.
