A comment on the question "My XPS M1330 is bricked - will not power on at all, but it worked last night!" in Dell:
I just called Dell customer service and told and retold the whole story,, I think they know their product is defective. The Tech place in my town got 3 other XPS M1330 in just a 5 day period with dead motherboards and they were all just past warranty like mine. I live in Ketchikan Alaska and these were computers that tourist from off the Cruise ships visiting our town brought in. So the Tech concluded it was nothing in our area that might have cause it because they were all of different cruise ships. – Janet Spear, on June 24, 2009 23:39

When I called and just talked to customer service,, I just kept repeating my story and telling them about everyone that had this laptop just past warranty whose motherboard failed. Dell kept passing me to a new person and finally one of them offered me a extended warranty for $220 or so. Then they would cover my computer. My original warranty was up (1 yr) in December. They sent me a box via FedEX and now my computer is on it's way to get a new motherboard. I did take out my hard drive so none of my personal stuff will be floating around. I figured that was a lot less than a new computer or a new motherboard installed
