No, I do not have any other security software installed. The Windows XP firewall is switched off. I even switched off for a short while Sunbelt firewall, to no avail.
I followed your advice. Apparently there is no ping connection because I got following answer:
Ping request could not find host updates.sunbeltsoftware.com. Please check the name and try again.
Everything is fine when I tried to ping „sunbeltsoftware.com” (packets sent 4, received 4, lost 0 (0%loss))

Latest version of the definition is 5 day old (13.01.2008(2509)) but it will not download any new ones although subscription is valid until January 2010-
