Hi Gillian,
There's no way to completely block someone from contacting you through AwayFind, just like you can't stop someone from calling or emailing--there's always a way around it.
The easiest way to make it more difficult for people to contact you through AwayFind is by using a personal question that is difficult for some people to answer here:
http://awayfind.com/admin/edit_contac...
Additionally, if you're on the pro version you can use categories to specify that certain types of messages don't get sent to your cellphone and/or email:
https://awayfind.com/admin/edit_how_a...
We get this question from people a lot, but once they use the service they consistently see that the fear is not realized. Feel free to contact us through support@awayfind.com if you feel that you're getting lots of messages and we'll work with you to see why.
Cheers!
Jared

Hi Mario, this is not actually a problem. The product can be used with just US phone numbers or with all phone numbers. You simply check the box for "Country code (if you expect to see non-US based telephone numbers)" on:
https://www.awayfind.com/admin/edit_c...
That will allow people to enter phone numbers in any format for non-US numbers. Sure enough, Honduras is an option :-).
Cheers!

We appreciate your perspective. Just tested this in a dozen browsers and it seems to behave okay. Could you let us know what browser and operating system you're on? Or perhaps provide a screenshot--feel free to email support@awayfind.com

It's on the last step of the wizard, which is the same as the Make AwayFind Work for You page. Your choice:
* https://awayfind.com/admin/setup.php?...
* https://awayfind.com/admin/make_awayf...
Then it's on the bottom left of that page. However, it may not be there for new Basic user sign-ups in a few days.
Cheers!
Jared Goralnick replied on November 20, 2008 14:03 to the problem "Why can't get auto response or contact form when I sent myself an email?" in SET Consulting:
Could you send an email to support@awayfind.com with your username and the email provider that you're using with AwayFind?
As an fyi, AwayFind itself isn't an auto responder--it simply provides a URL that you place in your email provider's auto responder.
Cheers!

Could you email us at support@awayfind.com with your email address, phone number, and cell phone provider so we can take a look?
Thanks!

Jared Goralnick replied on November 18, 2008 19:41 to the problem "How do I remove categories from my contact form?" in SET Consulting:
Hi Justine,
Categories are configured in the "Edit Contact Form" page, which is listed in the top menu bar. It's also available directly here:
https://awayfind.com/admin/edit_conta...
In the third area, called "Category and Routing Information" you should see a checkbox for "Display Category Fields"--just uncheck that if you don't wish to display categories.
Cheers!

Hi J,
I'm not sure I understand your question--we can either send messages to email accounts or to the providers listed here:
http://www.awayfind.com/support/cell_...
If your phone's provider is listed here then we can help--and most likely it will be since we support over 700 cell phone providers!
If that doesn't help, feel free to contact our support team directly at support@awayfind.com.
I'll shoot you an email as well.
Cheers,
Jared
Jared Goralnick started a conversation in SET Consulting on October 02, 2008 15:36:
AwayFind auto response messages appearing in Disqus commentsIf you post comments to blogs that use Disqus, they offer a feature whereby you can follow-up to comments through email. This feature is enabled by default.
However, Disqus often lets auto response messages like AwayFind's through their email system, which leads to an AwayFind auto response message appearing in a blog's comments area.
We've alerted Disqus of this and hope that it can be resolved shortly. Here's a workaround for the time being:
- Log into your Disqus account at this link (which will take you directly to the screen you have to go to, otherwise you'll have to click Account and then Notifications): http://www.disqus.com/account/notifications/
- Either uncheck Enable for comments that are replying to me OR change the email address in the Options area to one that does not have an AwayFind auto responder turned on.
We're confident that the folks at Disqus, who consistently improve their product and are responsive to our inquiries, will resolve this issue so that you can fully enjoy both an auto responder and Disqus comment notifications at your primary email address. Our apologies for any inconvenience.
Jared Goralnick replied on September 09, 2008 18:39 to the discussion "How many awayfind messages do you find yourself using each month?" in SET Consulting:
I'd be curious to hear people's thoughts. The maximum one person has received in a month is in the single digits, but it's all a question of where one places the link to their contact form and when they suggest that people should use it. Many request that others use it for emergencies...but some actually have it as their blog's contact form!
Cheers.
