Another cool thing that Facebook did to stop the problem of unwanted applications was enabling you to block all application invites from a particular person. See here: http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?pos...

I've had the same problem - it's to do with domain name servers - otherwise known as 'DNS'. Normally these are sorted out by your Internet Service Provider - ring them and tell them there's a problem. However if you're techie enough it's easy to solve without bothering them - Use a free service such as OpenDNS (www.opendns.com) - it's a matter of going to your router (or modem) 's set up page, and typing in two rows of numbers. You don't need to understand it to sort it - but you do need to follow the instructions carefully if you're not sure what you're doing.Full instructions on OpenDNS's site - Click on 'Get Started'
The problem may lie with your ISP or with your router, and the way it's handling the DNS numbers which are (usually) automatically provided by the ISP - either way they should be able to provide advice.
A domain name server by the way is a device which translates all the web addresses we use - for example www.facebook.com - into the numbers which computer networks understand, so we surf to the same place each time.

Hello There
At my home I have 2 macs and 4 pc's. I hit the same problem today. It only impacted by MACs (Firefox, Safar and Opera). Windows machines were fine I.EI resolved this by changing the DNS servers in my wan Router back to the ISP. I used the Open DNS servers for some months due to local ISP DNS issues. This resolved the issue. To me it was DNS related. Check your dns on your local machine and router and try using 1 of the many free DNS to test. Good luck. Wotzit
