Michael -- we are listening! We've been very busy lately planning some big new features ... apologies if you have not be able to get the responses you desired.
Can you please provide a little more information on what you are trying to accomplish and then we can discuss potential best solutions? I'm still a bit confused as to what it is you want to achieve.
Jason Goldberg replied on March 12, 2009 08:41 to the question "Is SocialMedian passing my email address onto spammers?" in socialmedian:
Apologies.
Here is the situation. Last week we had an unfortunate bug in which your email could be seen in the HTML source in a certain scenario on one of our pages. Most likely, some email sniffing script/bot would have got this email address and now is sending spam on this email. The bug has been fixed but in this case the spammer already has your email address.
It would be best for you to:
a. Set your gmail filters to mark all mails sent to this
socialmedian email address of yours as spam.
b. change your email address that you use for socialmedian under our "Settings" tab.
Very sorry about this. We believe we have fixed the bug. If any other users are encountering the same, please let us know ASAP.

Jason Goldberg replied on November 18, 2008 06:59 to the question "Why does liking and disliking an article auto-clip it for me?" in socialmedian:
Thanks for the comment Charles.
For the first implementation of this we thought that it would be best to auto-clip any user activity. Clipping a story just lets other people know that you think the story is worth checking out. Saying that you "dislike" a story means that you expressed an opinion on it, which we felt would be good to share with others.
We will continue to review this as we learn from user feedback.
Thanks

Jason Goldberg replied on September 25, 2008 13:55 to the idea "Explanation of noise level, volume and topics." in socialmedian:
Hi Rob. Thanks for asking this question.
Here's a quick summary.
When a user creates a news network they set a "primary topic" and then choose some "related topics."
The person who created the news network can set the initial default volume for the network.
LOW volume means that only results which contain the primary topic will be shown.
MEDIUM volume, which is the default, looks for relevant combinations of the primary topic and the related topics, giving more weight to better matches of both and proximity of terms and other info we know about relationships between like terms/concepts.
HIGH volume will return results which contain any single of the related topics or primary topic. All it takes is one match on any term for the story to appear under high volume.
Since Twitter tweets can be very noisy, we also only include tweets in MEDIUM if more than one person has clipped the tweet. All relevant tweets are included in HIGH. Only popular tweets on the exact primary topic are included in LOW.
While the individual who created the particular News Network sets the initial volume level, each member of that News Network can also set their own volume level.
