Thanks Alan! I am off to AVG's website now. LOL...Why would you want an extra year of buggy software? That makes about as much sense as the ridiculous advice I have been getting too! Sunbelt should be proud that their lame "tech support" website is being used to sell their competitor's software! If you search other issues, the support site is basically nothing more than a litany of complaints that go unresolved!

Hi Ecodude,
I tired of the runaround from support so just over a month ago removed all traces of CounterSpy and loaded AVG8 Pro. (Previously I had Counterspy 2.5 and AVG 7.5) I was so impressed with the minimal use of resources and the overall speed of AVG 8 that I upgraded to AVG 8 plus firewall removing Sunbelt Firewall.
I am now a very happy bunny.
Sunbelt would not give me a refund but extended my Sunbelt firewall subscription for a year. In all, about $20 wasted along with many many hours 'assisting' support to do something they should have sorted long before

So basically, I have been deluged with over a month of run-around excuses and stupid "reboot your PC" advice from Sunbelt Software that I would expect from third-world tech support. The automatic update problem still exists, users are furious (complaints posted everywhere for C0unterspy and Vipre) and no update is remotely ready for release. In fact, the last bit of advice I got was to disable one of the profile files in Counterspy. Yes, the advice was "pay us your good money and disable our software." Wow! I want my money back so that I can go buy a quality piece of software! I don't expect to troubleshoot code when I pay for product. What happened? This used to be a great product! Hey JasonL, where's the fix you keep promising??? Look at the last post - 25 days....

Same problem here.
But how comes that the previous versions of the Firewall automatically detected the VMware Virtual Ethernet Adapters (VMware Network Adapter VMnet8 and VMware Network Adapter VMnet1)?
And even worse: The current version 4.6 brings down my LAN connection COMPLETELY, when I run Azureus Torrent-Client! The LAN is only available again after a reboot.

I have Counterspy Ver 3.1.3125. This was updated from 2.x to 3 last week. Tried to update definitions but got the "Internet Connection Error" message. I then cleared the temp files from explorer (as suggested) and now it appears to work. But, I got a "Update failed" message, and when I cancelled back to the main screen, it now shows that update to ver 2300 definitions worked successfully.

A comment on the problem "Vipre software not getting updated" in Sunbelt Software:
Judy,
First go into Add/Remove programs and remove any references to CounterSpy or Vipre, then install the below updates and restart the computer. Once your computer is back up, download and run the installation again.
Install the correct one for your operating system.
Enable VB Scripting in Vista: http://apollo.sunbelt-software.com/ih...
Microsoft Windows scripting file for XP: http://tinyurl.com/yu4xkf

Thank you kindly. Have reinstalled TB and ran the fix. So far things seem to be acting normal now. I hope you will consider a way to let all Vipre users know of this fix because there may be folks out there that not aware of this thread. Looking forward to being able to use Vipre again.

Thank you for your patience. While the new build hasn't been released yet, the development team has given us the files that will correct the problem. The following utility will update your program files and should correct the problem with Thunderbird.

I sincerely hope it IS coming, and soon!
The lack of pro-active warning to your present customers is inexcusable.
I'm sure you've cost countless users money for unnecessary battery replacements.
Maybe there have been damaged PC's or even fires caused by overheating when the PC turned itself on while in an enclosed space, in which case Sunbelt is liable for damages. Have you even consulted your lawyers on the enormous potential for liability you have exposed yourselves to here?
I smell class action law suit.

I've been having issues with Cisco VPN that started just this weekend. I can start the VPN software, but when I connect it bluescreens. As a fix, I backed the restore date of the XP SP2 system back to 9/26/08 and the vpn worked and connected. But when McAfee brought the AV software up to date and I restarted, got another BSOD. Very consistent and reproducable. As long as I don't reboot after the restore, all is cool.
I say it's the AV/Cisco Tango.

The crash dump was partially corrupt, so I was unable to determine the faulting module. If you think it may be Shockwave, then uninstall it to test if that is the cause. Chrome is still in beta, but if we continue to see these problems further along, we will definitely need to look into it further.
You may want to bring this up to there beta team and see if there is anything they can determine or already know about.
